    problem transfering patch tm 3000d

hello guys i need some help i recently but an old pc and an rs232 cable to transfer patches to my technomate because originally i had problems with using a usb to rs232 on my laptop to patch my technomate i read lots of threads with similar problem and lots of people were saying that those usb to rs232 cables dont work very well but the proper rs 232 cable works fine, but for me its just back to square 1 im using a magicpatch loader and the correct phantompatch for my receiver and when i click start it says that its transferring but nothing happens ive even left it for an hour but the transfer never starts any help would be really apreciated thanks.

i just noticed that there is no loader for the 3000 series in the toolbox and the only loader going for the tm3000 series is the magic loader even on the tm site the loader for 3000 series is gone retry this one and make sure you have a lead that's right for sat reciever data transfers

when you used the usb to rs 232 did you click the icon usb>rs232 on the magicloader menu ?

yes that didnt work either but im using an rs232 to rs232 cable now and that doesnt work i really thought it would work because people have said on this forum that the had the same problem with the usb to rs232 and then they used the rs232 to rs232 cable and it worked straight away

But as mikiemo can tell you there is a few different types of rs232 cables out there maybe try his method, worked for some people

i would love to try that method but its nearly imposible to open up the cable i mean i dont understand why i would have to change the pinout because i bought of ebay and on its description it actually even said that its used to transfer software for satellite receivers thats why i bought that specific one and paid 2 pounds extra just my luck

Hi Spiros26. I had similar problems with a USB to RS232 cable i bought from Maplins - cost me 15 pounds. I was told to swap the pins which i did but still did not work. In the end i put the cable in the bin where it belonged. I was trying to patch a receiver for my cousin because his one did not have a USB . To be honest i dont even know if it was a pc or loader problem. Like you said i dont know why you have to change the pins around - the cable should do the job without having to mess about with it. Good luck.

Hi thijs. Yeah i had it as COM1 COM2 COM3 COM4 COM5 and even up to COM55. I even tried the official TM loader form the TM site. Like i said if you buy a cable to do a certain job you expect it to do it without all this hassle. Even Maplins guaranteed me that it would work. I might give it another go in the next few days. Regards.

does anyone know where i can buy the rs232 cable thats specially for transfering software to the technomate so the pins will already be in the right places and i wouldnt have to hassle with?
