Ok. Motor now installed. Not sure what to do next though. Tried navigating to other satellites and can see the dish moving but every time I try to find a channel on, say Astra 2 @ 28.2E, I get a bad signal message. Am I missing a step in the process? Do I need to set up each satellite individually?Technomate TM-5400+USB Super 0.7m Mororised DishComment

Jeysus..I thought I was pretty smart on all things techie but this is still all black magic to me at the moment.
I'll tell you what I've doen so far. I went to motorised set up and went to the DiSEqC Motor field and selected USALS then input the Longitude and Latitude settings for my postcode (52.0 North/0.7 West). I then selected DiSEqC 1.2, selected ASTRA 2 28.2 satellite and slected go to. Then I scanned the satellite (which took c10mins) but none of the channels have above 20% quality.
I haven't done anything about the patch. I did look at the thread but couldn't see where to download from. Do I download from the NET? If so where are they located?
I think the language is stressing me. I have no idea what USALS is? or what a Transponder is? What's a patch? Why do I need a patch? What does that enable? What are softkeys? Do I have to set my longitude/latitude only once or for every satellite I select?
Sorry - you must think I'm a complete jerk...too many questions etc etc..but any help would be gratefully received.Technomate TM-5400+USB Super 0.7m Mororised DishComment

forget the patch for now we will sort that out once you are set up.if you follow the guide I posted for you earlier you will succeed.usals is a maths based way of automatically finding satellites once you have got your 1st sat set up, stay on usals til you know what you are doing.at the moment you are going about it the wrong way as old bloke said use 1West as your target satellite its easier.BUT you must find that 1st sat manually.
you set your long/lat just the once the lat must also be set on the motor.you must read "how to install a motorised dish" in the general satellite sticky section and the guide I sent you. a transponder is just the frequency that a group of channels are broadcast on.
dont worry we all struggled to start withLast edited by dick b; 31 January, 2010, 15:00.Comment

Ok I've gone to motorized settings change the satellite to 1.0W Thor 2/3. The quality level was only 20% so I scrollled through the list of transponders and found transponder No 35 (12.608(H)/27.5) has a quality of 87%. Ive also changed to USALS as well then selected go to. DO I need to scan this satellite?Technomate TM-5400+USB Super 0.7m Mororised DishComment

yes you do but are you sure you are on it? did you set up as suggested in the guides?you can get misleading signals if you are not pointed at the right sat.set 11.325 H 24499 on the transponder line this should give you BBC world but please follw the guide I sent.Comment

Dick and the boys in this forum got me sorted from complete scratch,I didnt have a clue, nothing.
Do you have a sat meter mate ?
its easier than it appears but I know how you feel belive me,i even think my thread when I 1st started is still on here somewhere.
On reciever, drive motor to 1 west.
Goto dishpointer.com and find your house, look where 1west should be.
Point your dish at it,attach the sat meter.
now these things are very receptive, tweak the dish and play with the meter till you get the strongest signal.
dont worry about any patches etc yet, like Dick did said
we gotta get your dish aligned 1st,the lads on here will help and are very more savvy than me,but this is how i started,it will work !!Spiderbox ,1m motorised dish...Comment
