Howdy all - Could do with idiots guide to Technomate 5400 CI+ USB super

Ok managed to locate Thor 1W (got 97% level and 65% quality) Managed to get decent signal from BBC world so tightened all bolts on dish. From the menu I then selected SAT and chose Hotbird 13W. It said "moving to hotbird" but the dish didn't move and I got a message saying no or bad signal and the quality was back to 20%....Ggggrrr...any ideas?

did u save the settings on thor 1w, if the dish did nt move can u reselect thor1w and will the reciever pick up theprevious signal strength?

if it's usuals have you checked the long/lat
settings for your possition

Yes saved the settings. Did get the dish to move to other satellites to the west of THOR but couldn't get it to move East. When I sent it back to Thor it found the satellite again no problems.

Could this be the issue? My dish is placed on ground floor level and the guy that installed it installed it as a fixed dish pointing at Hotbird 13E. In between the angle of 13E and THOR 1W is a flippin tree...it's about 15ft from the dish and about 20ft tall...could it be that the dish can find THOR and HOTBIRD when it's fixed on them, but moving from one to the other is impossible because of the chuffin tree?

It's set on USALS and yes i've set long/lat on the receiver and set the angle of the motor to the same lat angle (52.7)

Not sure I've got the DECLINATION angle of the dish correct though...

presuming this is the same dish that was fixed on 13e before it was motrorised? Is it a problem with your limits can u pick up 4.5e and 9e and what about beyond 13e ? do u know what the range of arc you have got? and yes from reading other threads the rule of thumb seems to be that however tall the obstacle is? u must be twice that distance away with your satelite. i have the same problem with hisp 30w can pick up either side but tree in way for that sat
and so reading your measurements u would need to be 40 ft away!
suggest u try and move one sat at a time to establish what the tree is blocking and if your limits are stopping u?

go into the motorised settings menu and check you have usals set on the diseqc motor line then go to the limit setting line and on the sub menu press ok on "delete limit". if on usals the dish should move regardless of whether it can see the sat or not as its maths based and not dependant on receiveing a signal once you have your 1st sat installed.

Dick B...You're a top dude....whooppee it flippin works. I can scan across between satellites no worries....As Irene Kara once said "what a feeling"!!!

Ok so now I want to make the most of my new toy. How do I get access to sports and kids programmes like Nick Jr? How do I make sure I have all the available channels set up? Once again I'm begging....

dont think nick jr is available, but you can get the disney channel on 13 east and 9 east and football on nova sports/eurosport2 on 1 west. best thing to do is have a play and see which channels are clearing and delete the crap. well done m8 on your first install p.s. there are a few kids channels on astra2/eurobird1 on 28.2 east

which channels are you refering to?, there are quite a few kids channels on 28.2 east, pop/tiny pop/pop girl/cbeebies. disney channel on 13 east is listed as 10.722.h and on 9east as dcrb. have you patched your box with software that enables you to open some of the scrambled channels?, also nickelodeon has started on w2 at 16east on 11.166.h.sr 11850 and is fta at the moment but how long it will be is anyones guess. just post your questions when your stuck and we will all help you m8. lastly if bolton dont pull their finger out they will go down!. regards.

Hell I'm having issues. Attempting to download the patch (Zip or RAR files) for the TM-5400 CI+ Super from the sticky section. For the life of me can't get them flippin things to open. Downloaded firefox in an attempt to sort it but to no avail. Anyone know where I might be going wrong?

Scrub that..didn't have the winzip software - sorted it and loaded patch then loaded the latest softkey..let's see what happens now

I am using USALS at the moment and that seems to find each available satellite. Do I need to move away from using USALS to gain more flexibility? Do I need to use Diseqc 1.2 to do what you are saying?

no mate those are the relevent parameters for the channel.

as for using diseqc 1.2, id stick to usals but you may be able to tweak the usals setting by ajusting your co-ord,s by 0.01 plus or minus to see if it helps.
