Can i just remind all membrs of this one Rule: Trading on the forum is not permitted by any member. If you decide to buy/sell via PM, Digital Kaos is not responsible for the outcome. Trading is done at your own risk. Don't come crying to us when you get scammed or robbed

My personal opinion would be to stick these on Fleabay and see what happens.

The Repair one is not bad @ ?39.99 but also factor in the postage it will cost for you to send the box to them which insured & Tracked from one of the cheaper delivery services will cost around ?10-?12.

Still not a bad price for having fixed just over ?50

            Thanks Guys

So what ya's think, maybe ?50 for the box including the insured postage plus maybe ?50 for the Tablet inc the insured postage too maybe ?

Hmm, sorry, just read the ebay one for repairing the box for ?39.99, that looks like the best deal for me eh ? hmmm, ohh yea, plus the 10quid-ish for the tracked delivery of my box too I guess, so your looking at ?50 then, still better than ?300 pounds init ?

I just sent the guy a message on fleebay about getting the box fixed, see what he says

I am defo not even up to dreaming about the task of fitting the regulator and wouldn't know how to either, and as for putting it into a TV repair shop etc, I know for a fact they will either fit it and it still may not work (it might though), but either way they will still want some sort of money and generally these guys aint that cheap either, infact I think there was someone on this same thread put his box into a repair shop and the charged him either 90euros or 90pounds (same idea), ferkc that man, not when you can buy a clone brand new for not a lot more money than that, know what I mean ?

Plus, I have already been out about errrm ?14.50 or summit on parts, then the amount of time this has taken until now, and also the fact that I have been weeks now without the use of any box, nightmare man .

So I have decided, this box is a Genuine Vu + Duo purchased from a VERY reputable dealer/shop no doubt most of you will know (details can be given in pm if required, it very seldom even got used, simple facts are that now and again the mrs would watch a movie and now and again I might watch a footy game, apart from that the box never even got used, its so disappointing and sad man

I am going to put it up for sale, but I shall give people on here the first chance of refusal on it, I paid the full whack for this box just after they first came out and as you all know, the prices haven't even budged that much since then.

I also have a couple of brand new Cap's spare that I bought too plus the Regulator too, and I am sure I even still have the original box etc and will be able to provide the purchase details too if required.

If I put it on ebay I shall advertise it as "Perfect cosmetic condition, I shall describe the fault and say that is obviously for spares or repair, It may actually work if the new parts are fitted proper, I might not have fitted the Cap in good enough, I don't know, I am not an expert in that field, but It may well work just like that as I say, there again though, it might be something else, I don't know".

I may even ask someone would they like to sell me a fully perfectly working VU Clone box all set up with latest Image etc and just ready for the Line to be put in, and use this box here as part exchange, I don't know.

I would like to give the guys in here the first chance of refusal though, so its up to you'z !

              p.s
The hard drive powers up etc, so I don't know if that means anything, but I wouldn't be selling it with the hard drive in it anyway as I had to add that myself.

You'z can let me know asap before I rattle it up on Fleebay, cheers and thanks again for everyones help even though I never got there in the end .
I changed my Caps by sniping the leads and soldering the new cap to them. The regulator you could tried cutting the connections on top and solder a new regulator to them.

Cheers Alec, but I am going to just send it to the guy who repairs them as I cant be bothered anymore man, I have wasted too much time already on this and I just don't have the patience or even a steady hand to do these jobs nowdays, so I would be better taking my chances of trying this guy out and get it fixed that way, he even gives a 2 year warranty on the repair for a few quid more, so I am guessing he must be pretty good at what he is doing, I shall get it sent away in a week or two, ohhh noooo, council freesat only for more weeks, LOL

yea he's good to go mate, he messaged me back saying that only reason why he let the advert lapse if because he was sick of the bull-crap that he got constantly asked about the boxes etc, but he assured me that all that's needed is for someone such as myself or someone else to ask him to batter the advert back up again and he will no problem, so I guess that answers that one, unless he just goes ahead and puts the advert up before then, that's up to him though.

I cant do a thing just now as I need to wait on a few things before I have a few tokens to throw about if you get my drift, so for me it will be another week or so probably before I can do anything

                        p.s
he offers full refund less the postage cost if he cant fix it, also offers a 2 years warranty on the repairs too for a few quid more, not bad.

Interesting thread for me. Well interesting in that my genuine box from Lavatronics has just gone the same way (red light).

unit was bought July 2012 from lavatronics, but assume i am stuffed despite what should be a 2yr warranty on these.
So its likely to be cap and not PSU?
Normally happy to give soldering a go - but reluctant as this did not fix my previous clone with same issue.
So interested to so how this guy Saltire is using does.
                                Any news??
