Configured in the options of USB ports? Do not put a serial port.

Just bought X-prog m - it came only with adapters and usb cable.
I try to read M95080 Eeprrom in the dip socket, but after I click read it only writes initialising device and it does nothing else.
It is broken, or I did something stupid?
Check that you are connected to USB port .
Go onto top Pulldown menu and goto Enviroment and see what settings are in the menu ie Should be USB etc .

But checksum is automatic in BDM100 for flash only, for MPC and E2P is not in writing too.

How do you physically connect the 95080 to the x-prog-m? which dip socket did it come with for the 95080?

Check correct device port in environment options.
Press the update button, if window with authorisations shown, then firmware is ok. I think..

Check connection to chip. by the way, what chip you are trying to program?

Yes we shouldn't never expect any support from chinese sellers, once we pay it's a totally different attention.
