i tried jtag my dreambox dm500-c but it is still shutting down and not comunicating with pc

i have gone throught the whole post here... i have a dm518s which is like the dm500s i have the TE28F640 flash chip, im assuming i need the windows version of the jtag tool. overall i have done this and still no comms with dream up... i know dream up and null modem cable works as i have flashed another box at the same time. any thoughts?

There's now a guide, pictures and all the tools you need to JTAG your DM500.

You will need these tools if your clone has been zapped by the Gemini 4.3.1 image.

Untested by myself, don't use Gemini .

There is the answer for you, from other forum!:
"The clone maker would have routed the other pins out because of R600-R603 pullups but as output pin 20 needs no pullup they probably left it unrouted. In which case you'll be SOL. Even with precise drilling it's near impossible to get at unrouted BGA balls without wrecking the board, because of the power planes.

Dream JTAG won't work without a connection to processor pin 20. I'd say you're stuck with a brick. The only way to save it is probably to desolder and replace the flash memory with a newly programmed chip, which of course requires SMD rework equipment not to mention a fair bit of time. Not economic. Those clones weren't meant to be recovered."

I doubt, the speed may not b there. How about try using a usbjtag, it proven to be ok. I hv tested them. The latest is usbjtagnt. FW provided by their forum. Caution, some Anti-virus detect their FW as trojan, to use them, u may hv to disable the Anti-virus SW for that period of time. Try google usbjtag u may find their site and a u-tube tut was provided too.

What about this? Seems simple enough. May be a bit too slow with USB->Serial but it is wort a shot.

My present solution to BL and corrupted flash is: replace the flash. I hv all the tools. UP-2008, hot-blower, clips and liquid flux etc. <5min blow job... hehehe....

Don't know if it can connect to DB? Maybe it needs a special connection handshake or something. I have no idea.

Edit: The MarsBlaster only takes "max2 cpld" .SVF files, which means it doesnt work? Or can i convert a DB .bin to .svf somehow? It's just binary data isnt it?
