How to JTAG a DM500

Hi guys. I have a dm500s clone and today i had a real surprise : there is no jtag connector as u can see




I appreciate any help that you may offer.

Isn't it the 10 pins on the black connector, some 500's have pins, some just have pads.

Nope the black connector is RS232 port witch on original boxes is just near jtag pins. I'll try to figure out; by some schematics that i found looks like on R600-R603 i have 4 of 5 signals that i need for jtag. I just need to find 5th one.

i was you kikjung i would try on another dm500s, then pc, then cable, etc ... until u find where the problem is

Buy new one - there are big problems with Gemini 4.6.0 :-(

No need to buy a new one, you can use 'Jtag' which involves re-newing the bootloader in your DM500s then you will be able to load a new image (Not Gemini) using dreamup. If you goto the link below 'How to Jtag' and follow the procedure

I manage to f++++ up pin 1 of the jtag on dm500 pcb , does anybody knows where else I can make the connection for this pin?

jtag problems

Hi, I have a an issue with my d500s.

I have soldered the points on the dreambox, the lpt has also been soldered the correct way. When I connect it to pc and then load the dos prompt I execute the command;

jtagdm500 -m dm500 -e 00:09:34:01:A4:3F

I get as far as below;

Flash info. : INTEL Unknown
[dm500] reading CA:03 ff 07 ff 0f ff 1f ff 3f ff 7f ff ff ff 00 10
[CA] Ho Ho! CloneWARS corrupted bootloader eh?! consider getting a IPBOX!

I have seen the download at 0% a few times. The DM500-s has the green light on. I have tried the windows version but can't get a connection.

It is just about timing . you'll succeed if you connect & hit connect, just in time.

thanks for the reply, does this mean my conenctions are fine? I got to 3% with the dos version.

The windows version, I will keep trying tonight.
