    DM800 Fix: No CA Error

Firstly big thanks to Maddogs who pmed me this solution he got form another forum. I just tested it and it works

To cleaify to everyone, the dm800 showing No CA Error is NOt, I stress NOT a hardware fault, but a software problem. A lot of people are having to spend money returning their units to supplier due to getting this error, which is cause by us either putting wrong image on the box or by us updating the software. So hopefully this will save you the money in shipping back.

No CA Error is cause by the 2nd stage bootloader becomming courpted. Either by you flashing an image which does not have timebomb removed or by updating an timbomb removed image via the software update which will put the timebomb on the box and courpt the bootloader. (so dont update your image!!!)
I have done the 2nd solution myself and know this to be a fact as this software fix has fixed my box.

So let me introduce you to: DM800 Clone Serial Flash Enforcer

'' DM800 Clone Serial Flash Enforcer
Made by and inconjuction with the Clone manufacturers!

Use if DreamUp will not connect to your 800 Clone.
    read pdf files inside. ''

    here is two solution
No ca found by 2nd stage loader
This can be done in 2 ways.

    1) You have to have a working dreambox.
    2) DM800_repair, you alter dreamup to be able to use greyed buttons.
    Now for the first sollution.
    1) Connect working dreambox DM600/DM800.
    2) Open dreamup, press connect.
    3) When dreambox is found by dreamup, insert Null-Modem cable in
    the broken dreambox.
    4) Press flash button, and chose a firmware.
    5) The flash progress will probably hang, its OK.
    6) Open dreamup again, connect the broken box, press connect.
    7) If all went ok, you can now flash box again, (Use only serial
    communication)

    Now for the second sollution
    1) Connect broken dreambox DM600/DM800
    2) Open dreamup, press connect.
    3) When you see second loader error popup, just press ok.
    4) Open http://www.gsmsweden.com/forhike/sat...stage_pack.rar
    5) Drag DM800_repair in front of dreamup, and press dream multimedia logo.
    6) Now press the greyed Flash button, and chose firmware.
    7) The flash progress will probably hang, its OK.
    8) Open dreamup again, connect the broken box, press connect.
    9) If all went ok, you can now flash box again, (Use only serial
    communication)

Remember rep to maddogs for finding it, and of course the maker of it.

Hi, i've bought this: USB to RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable COM DB 9 Pin Lead on eBay (end time 01-Mar-10 14:44:18 GMT) and i was hoping to get my dm800 back to life. but when i plug it, pusch connect and switch the dreambox on, nothing happens.
I thought that was the dm800 clone that couldn't connect, so i tried the dm500 (original) too and i got the same behaviour.
Is there anything that i'm missing or is just what i bought that is probably not working?
      thanks

i have installed the driver (and windows tells me that now the device is installed and ready to work) but i have left the com to port 4 or 5, since 1 and 3 is already used.
When i try to connect it just doesn't do anything, the bar doesn't become blue...

There's a decent chance that your USB to Serial adaptor is only working one-way, i.e. it will receive data but not send or vice versa. USB to serial adaptors seem to be notorious for this problem.

I suggest that you start a new thread asking people's advice on what to buy. The Maplins adaptor seems to be popular although I believe that you need to download the drivers for it. See this thead.

I'm trying to use an old laptop with serial port. Same result, i click on connect, switch on the dm800 and nothing happens.
Is there anything wrong with my dm800?

Just noticed you actually patched the DreamUP that I used to recover my clone dm800. Thank you for your work and your s/w.

Cant find a solution for this 'file too big error' anywhere.
it is a result of the 'No CA found by 2nd stage loader, please contact support at dream-multimedia!' after using dreamup and enforcer to unblock the greyed out flash button. any got solution? help please???

I've got the same 'no CA found problem' with DM 800 bootloader #72. I've tried to fix it with the 2nd stage pack (method #2), but it didn't work. At step 3 flash-loader uploads without any pop-up messages, DreamUp status is "upload completed, waiting for acknowledge", and nothing happens. After choosing firmware at step 6 DreamUp says: "calculating checksum, waiting for OK from box to begin upload", and again nothing happens. When I try to flash the box again after steps 8 & 9, there is "file too big" message, and that's all. Many thanks to forhike for his work anyway, hope that he may have some new ideas how to solve this problem.
