I was told to get a drive no bigger than 250gb and it has to be formatted to FAT32 (NTFS) will not work.

Its a real doddle to record with, the best box so far in my opinion.

only thing it takes ages to show whats on epg,apart from that easy to record although my bit to put hard drive is blocked so stuck with usb,

Make sure that you've got it connected directly to the cable feed that comes into your house and not through any splitters. Once you've run the scan and picked up the channels you can then connect it up any way you want with splitters etc.

Also, have you installed the latest firmware or did it come pre-installed?

has anybody had same problem with ex7000hd in that you cant move channels manually in favourites just have a jumbled list, help its annoying me tried everything channel edit fav manager nothing

Yes I have found this too, be patient it will probably be addressed in a later f/w release. Be patient the box is still very young mate.

clearly u have a crap signal,mine is here and looks so much clearer hd channel are good and normal are sharper

ex 1000 picture is superb, 5 boxes in the house perfect pic on each 1 , tried direct first in line with no other boxes,still shit.
so no its` not cleary a crap signal.

there is a difference but it is only VERY slight from what I have noticed.

Got mine a couple of days ago, still fidling about with it.

HD channel - only 1 of - BBC HD is crisp clear and sharp.
Other channels are nice n clear(upscaled).

Scan has missed a few channels - like virgin 1 and premiere movies.

At present there is no update button in the installation menu - so until firmware addresses this it may be hard to find these channels and others that get moved.

It is quite easy with perceverance to amend a channel guide - but you have to do this via the usb - and upload the box channel.tbn to the usb and then put usb in computer and use STBmanager to amend the channels, then dowload them back to the box.

If anybody wants I will upload my work in progress to rapidshare so that you can save yourselves some time.

My deep scan found almost 3 of each channels which was a bit weird.

I just phoned up virgin sales team and asked them when they will be getting more HD channels and the best response I could get was some time this year...

So dont rush out to go buy one quite yet...

Steve you need to tell people your rough location and provider details for the channel tbn as it is both provider and area specific.
