Have had my EX7000 up and running for a while now and after a few teething problems, it's been fine and HD quality is great (also good upscaling of normal picture), although haven't tried the PVR function yet (will make do with connection to my DVD recorder for the moment).

I currently have a 2-way splitter for the Eurovox and broadband modem, but want to change this to a 3-way so I can also connect my old cable box (for watching the odd on demand programme, PPV movies etc.).

If I remove the cable from the back of the Eurovox (but not the power), will it retain/ save the current channel set up? Having spent an eternity deleting duplicates and sorting the channels, I really don't want to go through the hassle again if I can help it and I don't trust it to work if I save my channel file on USB and then rescan/ reload it.

yes m8 that will be ok you can unplug the box (power down ) and the data will still be saved but its a good idea to save your tbn to your pc , just in case.

Thanks - will pick up a splitter from Maplin at the weekend and give it a shot after saving the tbn file. Let's hope that N3 doesn't hit the Glasgow area for a few more months at least!

Has anybody EVER managed to get dolby digital surround 5.1 sound from this box?

I have been trying for the last week, and have not managed to find any channel or show with 5.1 sound.
My box is connected via HDMI to the amp/receiver, which is in-turn connected via HDMI to the TV.

Is it because there nothing that is broadcast with 5.1 sound? Or perhaps I need to change some kind of obscure menu setting somewhere?

If you managed to do it, please tell us how!

Also have found that they mostly on my set up can play 5.1 no bother at all,
But I need to update firmware on both my machines.

Hi m8 welcome to the forum
when you have downloaded the firmware click to open it, and rename the flash , flash.tbn, put this onto your memory pen then into the back of the box , switch the box off/on with the switch at the back , the box will then reboot ,on the led on the front of the box it should say now booting , open flash , extracting flash then count up from 0 to 100 then reboot , you may have to do a deep scan using the symbol rate for your area 6887 or 6952.

Hey guys, dunno if any1 can help me but basically after following all the help on these forums i have managed to get my box up and running and formatted an external hd to FAT32 and can record what i am watching. But, when i try to set something to record on the timer (pvr) when the show is about to start and the box reacts to this then it turns off and reboots thus not recording. Any ideas?
                        Thanks

As you set the timer - there is an option, that allows you to set it for a one off or a weekly setting or to shutdown or to awaken - maybe you have it set on shutdown...
