I have tried to connect to the box through my laptop but it does not seem to work. There is communication but the Hyper Terminal screen does not show any logical characters. Previously when I used to connect my Eurovox EX5000 or the Max V it would bring up a screen automatically when we ran the application and pressed the upload button. There is nothing like this here. Can someone please guide me where I am going wrong or write down a step by step guide (what does you mean by 'Run Loader' .

Many thanks for all who tried to help me, however, due to my stubborn mind I could not figure out what the instructions meant. I sorted it out ultimately just out of whim. However, just to help fellow members with my state of mind, I would like to give them a step by step guide to removing the Purple Light problem.
                  1- Power off box
2- Connect the Serial Cable to computer/laptop and box
                  3- Run the file Upgrade.exe
                  4. Make sure COM 1 is selected in the port setting.
                  5. Click Connect button.
                  6. Power on Box
                  7. Select Maincode (it was last in the list - in my case).
                  8. Use Browse option at bottom to go to the folder where your EX1100USB_091022.abs file is kept.
                  9. Highlight the file and click Connect, this will flash the box.
                  10. Connect the box to the TV like normal and search for the channels. All will appear without fail.

I am using XP on my Dell laptop and have managed to do it. The box is running fine after this. I still need to sort out the EPG issue which is annoying as I cannot see which programmes are coming next.

it works 100% if the problem was caused when flashing your box but also in small amout of cases a faulty psu will also cause the purple light if this has happened to you then you need a new psu
