However, just to help fellow members with my state of mind, I would like to give them a step by step guide to removing the Purple Light problem.
        1- Power off box
2- Connect the Serial Cable to computer/laptop and box
        3- Run the file Upgrade.exe
        4. Make sure COM 1 is selected in the port setting.
        5. Click Connect button.
        6. Power on Box
        7. Select Maincode (it was last in the list - in my case).
        8. Use Browse option at bottom to go to the folder where your EX1100USB_091022.abs file is kept.
        9. Highlight the file and click Connect, this will flash the box.
        10. Connect the box to the TV like normal and search for the channels. All will appear without fail.
hi can u help me? what is the file upgrade.exe?

        thanks

Are you using a USB to serial adapter? If yes, then you do not have that configured properly. You need to set the loader to use the actual COM port in use.

Yes, it is COM3 and it says the same error on that. I also tried it on an old PC with XP (straight female to female serial cable with no adapters) and the same happens.

Do you think the failed flash upload has damaged the connection to he box??

                      Any more advice much appreciated.

Am I supposed to be doing anything when it says 'Sync to serial port..'? (as it stays on that message for a couple of minutes before going to 'Target not connect or target is error status!')

In case it helps with any diagnosis:

I've got the adapter software successfully installed, then the usb - male serial cable from the comp then the other end (male serial) to a female serial to female serial cable. The other end of the female serial into the ex1100. Then with the upgrade tool loaded I use setting COM3 (none of the others connect at all) then with parity none, bits rate 115200, I then click 'connect' and it stays on 'Sync to serial port' for a few mins then it fails.

I'm a bit worried the box has lost the ability to receive any data as the 'sync to serial port..' message followed by the 'target not connect or target is error status?' a few mins later, shows the same message whether the ex1100 is turned on or not.

It's definaitely not the power supply unit. I don't actually have the purple light problem. The light goes onto blue and I get the 4music channel, but anytime I press a button on the remote the video signal cuts. Hoping it is a faulty serial cable.

                              Help

Hi, I have followed the instructions below, but run into issues:

                              1- Power off box
2- Connect the Serial Cable to computer/laptop and box
                              3- Run the file Upgrade.exe
                              4. Make sure COM 1 is selected in the port setting.
                              5. Click Connect button.
                              6. Power on Box
                              7. Select Maincode (it was last in the list - in my case).

I am able to select maincode however the only options I have available is:

back, next (which is greyed out) and cancel. So I am unable to go any further on this.

Am i doing something wrong, if so what and how can I get around this, really appreciate any support on this

because the psu has lit up does not mean its suppling power to main board ,as i said it looks like a psu problem ,try one and see or return to your supplier
