Just got a quick question regarding the Eurovox EX 5000 PVR.

I am going to be buying one in the next couple of weeks, and flashing it etc won't be a problem, but what I haven't come across yet is an aswer to the one last question I have.

Will I need to keep the original Virgin Media receiver connected to the original cable socket, and then go from the VM box into the Eurovox, or do I simply replace the VM box with the new Eurovox receiver? I was under the impression that the splitting of cables was required in some way, but that was purely from a guy I know and not a lot was really said.

Also, I am not too sure whether I was will buying the box with the HDD included. If I decide against it, am I best just going with the same model, or is there a more suitable one out there which is just as good?

              Thanks.

I'm in the same boat-read through, but I'm still getting the error message: Receiver was not detected. I've left the box on standby, connected it with a null modem cable and tried to download but nothing? can anyone help?

I did buy the null modem on ebay but I'm starting to think there may be a problem with it or maybe its not a null modem?

Do you think that could be the cause? Was thinking of maybe buying one from Maplin to make sure its a null modem.

Louise why not put the link up of what you bought from ebay or the item number, chances are its down to the USB adaptor, can you get to a PC with a 9 pin serial socket so you dont have to use the USB adaptor?.

                            Hi...

I bought a new Null Modem cable and the download worked 1st time..thanks very much everyone. Only problem I have now is that I can't get a good signal on ANY channel at all, my signal was perfect before using the eurovox. Anyone any ideas with this? I have all the channels but they're pretty unwatchable!

                            It's never simple! :-(

Are you connected to the direct feed without any splitters?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams
