Eurovox PVR 2008 EX5000 Advice Please

    hI all
I have just ordered my first box and was just wondering if there is any info that would help me in setting it up ie software that i may need to download from somewhere or firmware upgrades that i should be aware of. I have been looking around the forum for the last hour or so and will continue to do over the next couple of days to see what i can pick up and learn before it arrives but as this is my first post on here i understand that i must have 5 posts before i can download anything, are there any firmware rev problems that i should be aware of i live on the east coast of england and i understand that this is a pure ntl area ?? whatever that means, but any pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated as knowledge is very basic.
    Thanks in advance

just make sure you have the correct firmware a null modem cable then connect to your box flash it(make sure your box is plugged in) go and do a power scan set your symbol rate to 6.887 or if it doesnt work 6.952 and you should be away leave on sky sports 1 till it updates code may take a few minutes then away you go

        correct firmware?

        Hi thered,
Hope you don't mind me asking you a couple of questions but your reply seemed to help me with problems I'm having with my dad's pvr 5000.
I'm a complete novice to all this, btw.
The pvr came with firmware version 1.1 and I did a powerscan and got all the channels but they're all scrambled. I never read before about setting the box to sky sports 1 until it updates the codes.
If I repeat the powerscan (with 1.1 firmware) and then leave it on ss1, will it work for me?

Many thanks and sorry if I've hijacked the thread,

        slan for now,
        sw

            Hi thered
Thanks for the reply did not know about the symbol rates and ss1 know nothing about this really as this is the first box i have had, would it be a good idea to leave the vm subed box connected also as still paying for this service dont know what to do for the best.

Yes still keep it connected especially as you are paying for it. Keeps it updated and you can use it in another room if you like.

                Hi satsmo
thanks for the advice is their any other software i need to get besides the new firmware or is that it. I have seen that some boxes you need allsorts of stuff to get them working but if i am correct most of that is for chipping vm boxes.

You will find it in downloads, but I cannot direct you to which one as you need to say whether its a clone or genuine box first. Look down through the grill slots if you see red blobs on the board screws its a clone.
