Version name will remain the same. What does it say for SW date in system info?

Regards the HDD not recording make sure it is pushed in all the way. Then do a recording from the EPG or use the pause button and pause live TV for a minute. Now the HDD should be recognised by the box.

If not take out the HDD, do a factory reset, scan for channels again. Then push the HDD back in all the way and try a recording.

Firmware revision date is correct for 1.1A. Try out the HDD as said any problems just drop back.

Take out the HDD, then factory reset and reflash with 1.1A. Then re-insert the HDD.

This is quite a common fault with the EX5000. Did you purchase it with HDD installed or did you purchase it separately?

Some EX5000s have had a fault in transit/manufacture, where the IDE slot for the HDD had become loose. I am not advising you to open the box as this will void your warranty. If above does not work, your only other course of action is to send it back to your supplier.

I know you don't want to do that, but all suppliers are aware of this problem.

No problem, some suppliers have T&C saying flashing the box will void the warranty. Just reflash it back to the FTA only revision, if you need it I will put it in downloads for you.

Should get my new Eurovox EX5000 tomorrow. Saying goodbye the 'The Box'. Is the TV listing on this better than the jumbled mess that you get with the box?

                            Yes the EPG is better.

As said and its only my opinion I would sent it back and ask for a replacement.
