        Very helpfull Gizmo.1484 . . . . . not!!!!!

        A null modem cable and serial cable look identical. The difference is in the wiring of the pins between the connectors on either end. The serial cable has them wired one to one so pin 1 on connector 1 is wired to pin 1 on connector 2 etc.



        For a null modem cable certain pins are crossed over to communicate with each other, such as the Tx and Rx lines.
