@ digicon just spent ages reading this thread..........
just after some info please
You say way back in a few posts about the GiGaBlue HD QUAD+ PLUS Linux Enigma 2 HD PVR Satellite Receiver 2x DVB-S/S2
My question is.....Is this still the best box out there for the sat/cable side at the moment....**************
You advised me about the Solo 2 a few years back
don't want to get rid of it then buy a snail.....want somthing with the same speed but want to expand with the cable side
just incase
Any advise from any members please Thx philLast edited by satsmo; 11 November, 2015, 00:12. Reason: Removed link to trader's web site, please refer this via pm to digiconComment

@P&D
Do not get rid of the Solo2 just invest around ?49 on the VU+ USB Turbo Tuner which basically adds DVB-C/T/T2 to your solo2 as a 3rd tuner.
Cheaper option and way better than getting a new box, Most images now have the drivers for download from the plugin menu
Best of Luck

@ digicon are the vu turbo tuners any good I have a sky t330 usb tuner on my solo 2 but causes the box to randomly freeze is the vu turbo reliable and does not cause the box to freeze as I'm in the same situation as p&d new box or vu turbo don't really want to invest in one if it crashes like the t330 tunerComment

Got the tuner this morning but cannot get the VU to see it.........on image 2.14......just checking if i need to update the image or just the drivers
Update..............
Could not get the VU to see the tuner......flashed a new image 2.6.1 not a problem....picked it up
Just need to find out how to scan for the channels now
Edit 14/11/15...........All setup working perfect as a backup.....Never know whats around the corner these days
So if one goes tits up.......already setup..........If not then min spend & i could always use for HD channels from you know where

Cheers for the heads-up.
Had a bit of trouble finding the spec of the new H3 devices, but from what I can gather:
Zgemma H.S : Single-THREAD CPU, 1 x DVB-S2 Satellite Tuner
Zgemma H.2H : Dual-THREAD CPU, 1 x DVB-S2 Satellite Tuner & 1 x DVB-C/T/T2 - Cable,Terrestrial & Terrestrial HD
Zgemma H.2S : Dual-THREAD CPU, 2 x DVB-S2 Satellite Tuner
So it doesn't appear to be dual core - hoping these devices still get a performance kick though.Comment

Hi - I've just purchased a Star S - I'm very impressed. The box seems to be lighting quick, compact and very slick. The only thing that lets it down imo is the casing, the styling is lacking and it looks like it uses the same shell as an OpenBox. Otherwise it's highly impressive and worth investing it one!
IMy previous box was a Vu Solo - how do these boxes compare to the Solo?Comment

On paper the zgemma are quicker but in real life there's almost nothing to choose between them and in fact the solo is better for streaming from tsmedia or plex. If you want a box that is genuinely lightning quick try a gigablue quad plus, solo2, duo2 or the xtrend 8000 (i think it's the 8000) anywayComment
