i got phone call last week from vm ,since i had paid my last 3 bills with no probs i was offered free weekend and evening calls and 10 mb broadband for 8 months , but 12 month contract will have to be signed so i pay for the last 4 months ,is this a good deal ?

I phoned to cancel and im moving house soon too. I said I was after this:

she said:

then approx ?66 after
and but only Setanta that you get free with XL. She is phoning back on Monday.
How does it work ? I have heard of "the retentions team"... Do you have to start the 30 days notice for them to phone you ? This woman I spoke to didnt seem to waiver when I hummed and harred on the phone and said the new house has a Sky dish up already (which it does). I know somebody a few pages back what I want for ?55 and an extra V+ box. I just want 1 box
Any tips, people ? What shall I say when they phone me Monday afternoon ? Should I just tell her what I want and for what price as I know somebody else has this ?

well ive bit the bullet and payed vm, i got xl tv (espn included), 20mb bb, and phone with free weekend and evening calls ?40, ( i actually got a nice english lady when i phoned em instead of a indian call centre ) before i phoned vm i had the crack with the sky bloke in tescos, they where doing free hd box, free install, free install of bt line ( if you aint got one ) tv which has 270 odd channels, you get all the usual channels including espn but not sly sports or sly movies ( these can be added at ?1 per month per channel ) free land line calls, upto 20mb bb free ( you actually get 8-10gb ), but this has a 2 gb monthly allowance ( ?1 per gb per month after 2gb allowance ) all for ?34 i would have gone for sly but for the bb conditions, sly offer ends when england are out of the cup ( which wont be long judging by the last 2 performances

Just remember when you phone them to select the option to cancel your account. You are instantly transferred to an english speaking person. Your opening dialogue needs to be as follow. "I would like to cancel my account" and when they ask why, say "because Sky have made me an offer I can't refuse" They will then match the offer (even if you have made it up like I did)

Another tip would be not to accept their first 3 offers. They will eventually yield and give in as long as you have reasonably realistic targets.

Yeah sure Vermin, I'll go through 5 pages and waste my time choosing new services only to find out you don't even tell me the new total monthly outlay is going to be..

With nagra3 quickly sweeping across the Uk do you think it would be a good idea to let other member know what we are paying, or have been quoted for VM packages. This can range from the most basic package to the all singing, all dancing one. We all know VM customer services can slash the prices, so I think it would be helpful to all members, or visitors who are about to be wiped out soon, to see what offers they may be entitled to without having to go through the tediouse phone calls...just a thought...chuck.
