ive been onto them today best deal i could get:
    1. m phone , xl broadband (20m) xl tv ?55 per month
    2. m phone l broadband (10meg) xl tv ?47 per month

i can have both packages on rolling 30 contract or
sign up for a year and get a v+ plus for a one off payment of ?15...
im not sure what channels you get with xl tv...

is this a good deal? bearing in mind i do not have a bt phoneline and would have to use vermin for broadband anyway....
    also quoted for broadband only.

Oh right. Yeah it's complete and utter garbage.

        I currently have

        XL 50MB BB
        M phoneline
        M+ TV.

        = ?46.41

I want for the new football season starting:

        XL 50MB BB
        M phoneline
M+ TV. With full sports and ESPN and the Crime and investigation channel.

That is all. I'll post back what I get it for.

been paying them 40 to 50 quid a month, even though i had an arnet receiver.
and i was really pushing him, basically telling him i would leave, but the coont would not budge.....

                They are quoting me

                XXL 50 Mb Broadband
XL TV including Sky Sports Package
                M phoneline (which I don't even need)
                ?82

                or

                XXL 50 Mb Broadband
L TV including Sky Sports Package
                M Phoneline (which I don't even need)
                ?72.99

                or

                XL 20 Mb Broadband
XL TV ?82 including Sky Sports Package
XL phoneline (which I don't even need but strangely it adds a discount as this is classed as the triple X package)
                ?70.99

I told them I wasn't happy with the prices and I'd phone them back once I'd made a decision.

I chose the cancel option from the automated menus when I called up, if that's what you mean.

I didn't however say at any point I was leaving or wanted to while on the phone. You have to stay polite and let them add (log) the first phone call before you phone again and start the "I'm leaving" spiel.

That is crap, if you are after sky sports and not bothered about broadband then you have to go with sky.
You will get free broadband with sky, if you are just surfing the net etc then sky broadband is ok. If you are near to the exchange then you might even get good speeds.

Just had a look at virgin media's website and build your own bundle, 10meg bb, TV M+, Phone M and all sky sports channels for ?50.49
Don't forget you could always buy a HD box and then you would get sky sports 1 and 2 at no extra cost.

I definitely am bothered about Broadband, I was willing to sacrifice the 50 for 20 but only to reduce costs. I download like a mofo!

I phoned up again there using Sky as a comparison but the doll on the phone basically rubbished sky's broadband service and explained I'll be lucky to get speeds of 6Mb. Dropping from 50Mb to 5Mb is inconceivable for me. Looks like I might need to take a financial hit on getting what I want.

Say you are getting your broadband separately with Be Broadband. Tell them you live near the exchange so you will be getting 20Mb+ speeds for ?17.88/month.

They may change their tune then. They'll tell the usual drivel about getting no more than 8mb but explain its ADSL2 and they'll be stumped. Say a neighbour is with Be and they get between 22-23mb

If they don't budge then tell them to ~~~~ off!!

OK if you really need the broadband then you can't beat virgin.
I have 50mb, so know where you are coming from.
Then I have sky tv hd with sky.

The good thing with 50mb no one at virgin bothers about what your doing.
Now when you are 20mb and 10mb you are monitored and they know exactly how much each month you download and upload.

Good point from guy above, I have a very close friend who lives in Kent and he is with be and gets over 20mb all the time and it never goes off ;-)

That is the sky tv package

All channels inc movies and sport
                                Upto 20meg
and free calls evening and weeekend

It was ?48 now its ?51.

You could try that as a bargaining tool but be warned the deal from sky does not include line rental and broadband comes with 2gig usage.

I can confirm 100% that one of my neighbors this year after being with virgin for years dumped them and got sky tv instead because they offered a better deal than virgin.
On the day that the Sky engineer was here virgin called him up and offered to give him what sky was giving him but also a ?5 month saving.
It was dead funny the guy was just going to put his ladder up and my neighbor told him to leave.
