Ok all,
It appears there is still the issue with the program guide flash:
TheboxSuperUSB_V1.12 This will not load.
TheboxSuperUSB2_v2.03.20090923 This loads perfectly.
Error V1.12 this file is not compatable.
If a fix becomes available i am sure you kind gents will let us mere Mortals know

Hi- followed the instructions above to install f/w onto my new The Box USB II, finally got the pen drive to recognise the f/w, pressed 'format' on the 3 file types that I was presented - MTPMEDIA CH Data Backup and Code Backup - got a 'Warning!!!' sign each time, and then tried Auto Scan. This just gave me the standard freeview channels, and $ signs against the pay for view ones. BTW - I had to go back to Menu and back to USB to format each of the 3 files. Am I being a complete muppet? NB the 1570 option doesn't do anything on my box - again, is it just me?
Help plz - I'm going mad with this thingComment

i dont think you have read the installation instructions m8 follow this.
1. Plug in the box and connect the cables
2.Format a usb stick in pc to fat32
3.Copy the firmware onto the stick via the PC
4 Switch your box off completely and insert the usb in the rear socket.
5.Switch on the box wait for it to boot up.
6.Press menu and scroll to usb press ok
7.The firmware should start to transfer from the usb to the box.
8.Once this has done hit menu and key in 1570 with the remote.
this will bring up the secret menu hi light keycode and change it to on.
9.You should now be set to scan go into menu and select installation, choose automatic scan press ok then choose your provider hit ok again.
You should now get all channels your after.
If by any chance you dont get the channels try a different provider. If i have helped you please dont post Thanks just use the Thanks buttonComment

Thanks for your patience DessertDog:-
I'm not sure how to format the stick to fat32. Do I need to do anything other can copy and paste to the Pen Drive?
Other than that, I've followed the steps you suggested, but have to format the 3 files manually. On each occassion it says formatting complete but I have to go back to Menu to format the next file. Incidentally the CH Data Back up and Code Back up files stay on the USB menu after I've formatted them, but the other one disappears from the menu. Keying in 1570 with the remote still doesn't do anything so I still can't see the secret Menu.
Apologies again if I'm being a complete plank.Comment

You can't load TheboxSuperUSB_V1.12 to the Starview 5, its for the Starview 4. Starview 4 is TheboxSuperUSB & Starview 5 is TheboxSuperUSB II.

Format it in the pc m8 download the program in downloads section PC Fat32Formatter if you are using a stick larger than 32gig if its just a small USb ie below 32gig then vista will format it ok.Your USB stick needs to be clean to download the hardware onto it from the downloads section. Thanks for your patience DessertDog:-
