Starview 2 The Box V4.57 Firmware & Loader.

Hi Folks,
Hoping someone can help me with some guidance on flashing my dad's "The Box" with the firmware 4.57.
At the mo he has 4.54ee and it's not picking many channels. Is there a definitive guide to be had from start to finish. I have a serial null modem cable and a nikkai usb to nine pin adapter. I have also downloaded the firmware but when i press download i get error messages telling me the file is empty or bin file not opened or something similar. I'm in dublin in case it's of any importance.
Any help would be much appreciated.

still no channels on starview 2 after new firmware

hi satsmo i finaly got my box firmware to go in with info of ur threads im in dublin usin the starview 2 after i put in the firmware 4.57 wit v4.03 loader all went in succesfull but i still cant get any channells not from the want of trying trust me haha i noticed it said alot of the channels are on the negrevision network is that me ~~~~ed now im new to this my first ever form so be gentle haha

as you say mate, you are cream crackered. hope you havent just got your box. if not then youve probably had your monies worth. sure it will happen to us all eventually..

Starview and The Box

Ive had a starview box for a few years and wanted to update it (its not a clone) I checked the forum and loaded The Box 4.57 & Loader (428.0 KB)

I now cannot access anything the Starview Box only shows a ' - ' on the LED.

And when I connect up (Im on Veeergin) I only get the Box Logo display with no access to anything via RC or box.

First post so go easy on me.....

reflash it again m8. if it says flash failed, just press download wait a few seconds then turn your box on from the back it might take a few goes but normally works..

Ill give it a go and see what occurs.

If Ive killed the box - is the starview 5 a better bet regarding the ease of updating when channels are lost as the R32 cable only fits my aging desktop which apart from the updates is long overdue for a car boot sale.

my sons starview 2 the box has gone off, but my other sons starview 1 is still on. is it worth replacing with a starview 4, and do any of the other boxes ie eurovox , kryptview, etc work with virgin media and will they also be affected by nagra 3. many thanks in advance.

where are your sons living? what is wrong with 1st one?
all these boxes work off vermin. but when nagra3 hits, all will be useless and no fix in sight.
