The Reds gas meter reversing trick didn't work for me , i tried it on the meter i had 15yrs ago , when i was made redundant , and all it did was stop the gas flow , a mate told me there was a one way valve inside it , worth a try with your own meter if you're struggling though .
As for the elecy meter , a nappy pin in the side worked a treat for 18 months , until i got another job and back on my feet.
Drill a tiny hole (in the blind side) of the meter , just below the wheel ,and use a bent baby's nappy pin to stop it for six weeks or so , to bring the bill down to somewhere near what it should be (robbing B*stards).
A few mates have recently been made redundant , but now have the new digital meters and don't know how to get around them , any idea's people ?

i understand about the price issue on gas and leccy but fcuk me, fcuking about with the meters is crazy not only is it highly illegal which u could get locked up for,but EXTREMELY dangerous, is your life worth the extra money because thats what your risking and maybe others to.u could get the book thrown at u if u get caught

Powerfull magnet attached to the side

A magnet doesnt do it. I have tried a good strong one all around. The spinning disc looks to be made out of Ally.. in my meter that is.

Point taken gmb45 , but when i did this , i was 3 weeks from reposession , i'd borrowed off everyone i could , was laughed at by the benefits agency and was desperate to keep the roof over my families head .
When you reach that stage of humiliation and desperation ' i'd begged , borrowed and in the end , stole to keep my family warm and fed and i'd do it again .
I eventually (after 6 mths) found another job , but as now , there were non about .
Can't say i was proud of it , but in this country , god looks after those who look after themselves , unless of course you're a jailbird or asylum seeker / illegal immigrant ( both the same to me) , in which case you get everything for ~~~~ all !!!!

Believe me Red Spider it's not a matter of you letting it get that bad , because unless have a money tree in your garden or the uncanny ability to walk into jobs that don't exist ( and how i tried !), you're in deep trouble Mate .

My only outgoings at that time were my mortgage lender who i informed before i missed one payment , (unwilling to help) and my utility bills , who , (with the exception of NW water) , told me they'd proceed to recover any unpaid debt which was more than 6 weeks overdue , and i'd be charged for the cost of recovery ! (talk about blood out of a stone!).

As for knowing so much about you , i only know what you've told me .
My Family mean everything to me , but sh*t happens in life and i'm glad you've never been affected by it .
The one thing nobody can totally control is their destiny .
The biggest lesson i learned from that period in my life , is that when you haven't got a pot to piss in , nobody want's to know.

Guys, when u see an empty house, take the meter! or buy one from e-bay ?40!
Don't get caught bypassing or turning it around. When it has been run backwards it can damage the bellows inside and if stripped it can be seen. Just put the 'new' meter on for 1 month out of three, DON'T BE GREEDY!!
As for the account, it would be a good idea to ring them and change the name of the account holder, say something like...'My wife and kids have left me so im here alone now' can i put it just in my name etc.... new customer....they have no idea of usage!
If they think ur fiddling ur gas meter they will get a court warrant to enter and remove the meter, the warrant will be specific to YOUR meter serial no. When they come in and see a different meter and you explain 'the man changed it a few months ago' they will have to leave as the warrant is now void!
when they come back....well whos to say it hasn't been changed again! Buy some leak detector spray for ?3 and be safe!

Look on ebay, theres a firm selling seals and pliers to crimp them on there. I think it universal meter services in devon (new lead seals need a couple days in a cup of vinegar to darken them down a bit) take the front off the main meter to expose the dial,BE CAREFULL ELECTRIC HURTS!!! most have a small screw with a + and - next to it. this is used to calibrate the meter, turn it towards the - a bit (don't be greedy, its a long term thing), to get it right, put something electric on and time how long it takes to register 1 unit, work it out so u cut about a quarter off this time, seal the meter up, shake the hoover bag over the meter to 'age' with dust.

**TIP..change all the seals so they match

Even if it could be done the only money that would be deducted from your bill would be when you charged the card legitimately, no good trying to charge a gas card unless you are also able to hack into the computers that register when you buy it !!

Ah, but the suppliers don't expect the gas meter to get hacked so even if you get money put on the meter, they will try to claim it back but they will lose if you take a complaint to the ombudsman, i used to work for one of the big suppliers and this happend all the time with "missing" payments. customers were always asked to pay it back, but they took it far enough and won.

The trouble is the suppliers need to prove you've cheated, and the way the system works at the moment they can't tell. Also they have problems with missing payemtns just now, and some can't be found, this can be down to their systems so you have a fair chance with getting away with it if youcan get the card to work!

Oh no... Do not under any circumstances mess with your gas meter.!!!! You cannot reverse it, you cannot put a piece of pipe between them for all the reasons mentioned.. There is a flow restrictor, there is a one way valve. The flow restrictor is essential....

this just goes too show unless youve been there ie struggling too make ends meet as sometimes can happen survival allways kicks in
