Chelsea set to sell Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid

Real Madrid are set to complete the signing of Portugal centre-back Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea.

The Spanish giants have agreed a ?6.7m fee to sign the 32-year-old, who will link up once again with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
"Chelsea can confirm it has agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Carvalho," said a club statement.
Carvalho, who was also with Mourinho at Porto, joined Chelsea in 2004 for ?19.8m and won the league three times.
The Chelsea statement added: "The transfer is subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms. Chelsea would like to thank Riccy for his six years of service, and we wish him well in his future career."

Charles N'Zogbia transfer to Birmingham breaks down

Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia will not be joining Birmingham after failing to agree personal terms.
The prolonged transfer looked sealed when Wigan accepted Birmingham's "club-record fee" for the French winger.
But talks between the 24-year-old and the Blues "broke down irrevocably", according to the St Andrews outfit.
"We did everything that was asked of us and then the goalposts were moved at the last minute," said Birmingham manager Alex McLeish.

"It was very important to us as a club to stick to our principals and look after the long-term interests of Birmingham City as we are custodians of the club.
"We remain ambitious and committed to adding extra quality to the playing squad but this deal became one that was not in the interests of the club.
"The Board worked with me extremely hard to try and get this one over the line and I thank them for their support."

Good to see some clubs have some morals and let players get greedy

Blackburn Rovers sign striker Benjani Mwaruwari

Blackburn have signed former Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari.
Benjani, 32, has been training with Rovers this month following his release from City in June.
Rovers boss Sam Allardyce had admitted concerns over the knee problem the Zimbabwean suffered during a two-year stint at Portsmouth, from 2006-08.
But on Friday the Lancashire club confirmed a one-year deal had been struck with an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
Speaking on Friday, Allardyce said: "Benjani has shown us he will be OK to play for us in the Premier League."

The Zimbabwe international, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland before being released by parent club City earlier this summer, began his career with Jomo Cosmos in 1999.

After spending three seasons with the South African side, he moved to Auxerre before joining Portsmouth for ?4.1m in January 2006.

We all knew blackburn needed a striker but is a freebie going to cut it ? suppose time will tell

A reported bid from Tottenham for Ashley Young is the latest turbulence to hit the Midlands club.

Villa insist they will not part with Young or any of their major players ? ?it might not be their choice [to go],? caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald said, ?if the club needs them, and they are under contract? ? but it is another unwanted distraction as Villa?s board seek desperately to restore stability, a task which was made no easier by defeat to Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.

                              Reds medical for Konchesky

Skysports.com understands Paul Konchesky is currently undergoing a medical with Liverpool.

The Reds agreed a fee with Fulham for the left-back on Friday evening and he was given permission to travel to Merseyside to hold talks.

As revealed by skysports.comLiverpool have offered young duo Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic to Fulham as part of the deal to bring the defender to Anfield.

Fulham cleared the way for Konchesky to leave Craven Cottage after sealing a move for Mexican defender Carlos Salcido from PSV Eindhoven on Friday.

Well i hope he can do something in defence cause it does need shaking up

                                Gyan arrives at Sunderland

Asamoah Gyan has arrived at Sunderland ahead of his proposed move from Rennes to the Premier League club.

Gyan caught the eye at the 2010 World Cupafter scoring three goals for his country Ghana in South Africa.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is keen to bolster his frontline before the transfer window closes at 6pm on Tuesday, and Gyan has emerged as his top target.

It is understood that a deal in the region of ?12million could be in the offing, set to be rubber-stamped following a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

The 24-year-old joined Rennes from Udinese in 2008 and he has since scored 14 goals for the club.

Maybe another world cup flop or maybe not!
