    He's not leaving

Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen insists he has not left the club, amid speculation he will move to Wigan Athletic.

Both Mike Phelan and Eric Steele have left Old Trafford in the wake of Alex Ferguson's departure as manager with new man David Moyes keen on bringing his own staff in.

It had been suggested Meulensteen would be the next to go with the Dutchman linked with a move to the DW Stadium as a replacement for Roberto Martinez, who is close to leaving for Everton.

However, Meulensteen told ELF Voetball he was not leaving the club and remained an employee at United.

"So far I will report on July 1. I am still under contract at the club," he said.

"I didn't step down, and also I was not sacked by Manchester United. I am still employed."

Among the names reported to be on Moyes' wishlist to form his backroom staff are former Everton and United defender Phil Neville and the Scot's assistant at Goodison Park, Steve Round.

After an initial spell at United between 2001 and 2006, Meulensteen has been part of the Old Trafford set-up since 2007 following an ill-fated spell in charge of Danish side Brondby.

Seems plausible one though to me, i cant imagine any of the mentioned

Defo need a couple of bodies in the middle and i would be happy with him and fellaini as our only 2 in

we have Zaha to come in too, i expect powell to feature more as well as janujaz and larnell cole to start getting a little game time too, he hasnt done any harm to himself the last couple of months and the rest of the squad is pretty good in most area's imo

nani, rooney and anderson can all go

A striker to replace rooney with the cash we get would be nice, benzema maybe but imo is not essential i expect i bit more from kagawa next season and if rooney goes he may play behind rvp

    see what happens eh

Shame for all of them rene was part of a successful team along with phelan, i understand he wants his own men about but surely a bit of continuity is better. they were a good team anyway

Yes well done the U21's shame Januzaj didnt get his debut at west brom but im sure he will get some game time next season

RIP Brian Greenhoff little before my time but regular as is his brother on MUTV and will always be rememebered as being part of the team that stopped the scousers getting a REAL treble

Btw shame about phelan and steele leaving, i think phelan should have been kept on in some capacity as an ex player and someone who has coached through the ranks i think he will be a big loss and a gain for somebody else

got to feel for steele too learned spanish to try and sort our keeper out then gets the chop

    Good luck for the future
