Manchester United today confirmed the departure of assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele.
David Moyes, who takes over as United boss on 1 July, said: "I would like to put on record the club's thanks for everything Mike and Eric have done. I will be looking to appoint my own members of coaching staff at some point in the future, however, I'd like to take this opportunity to give them both our best wishes for their future careers."
Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward said: "I'd like to thank Eric and Mick for the enormous contributions they have made to the success of Manchester United in their time here. Their professionalism, ability and diligence have been a credit to them. They are top class football men and everyone here wishes them well for long and successful careers in the game."
Mike Phelan, a former United player, was promoted by Sir Alex Ferguson to the role of assistant manager in 2008, having served the club as a first-team coach since 2001.
Eric Steele, joined the club in 2008 as first-team goalkeeping coach to fill the void left by Tony Coton who had been forced to retire due to injury.
Can't say I'm happy about this. I'm all for Moyes bringing in some of his own staff, but I'd have liked to have E Steele.

Former Manchester United and England player Brian Greenhoff dies aged 60 - Manchester Evening News
Former Manchester United and England star Brian Greenhoff has died at the age of 60.
The skilful centre-half, who also played in midfield, passed away at his home in Rochdale this morning.
Brian, who was born in Barnsley, joined United in 1968 after representing Yorkshire Schoolboys.
He played in the same team as his brother, Jimmy, who joined the Reds in 1976.
Brian lifted the FA Cup with his beloved United in 1977 and won a Second Division winners medal in 1975.
He made 271 appearances for the Reds, scoring 17 times and won 18 caps for his country.
Brian's first-team bow came at the age of just 20 in 1973 and played his last game for United in 1979.
He was worshipped by the Stretford End and something of a cult hero with fans recognising him as one of their own.
Brian headed back across the Pennines to join Leeds United following his stint at Old Trafford and later went on to play for and coach Rochdale.
He moved with his family to Menorca before returning to Rochdale and last year wrote an autobiography.
Police were called to Brian's address this morning following reports of a sudden death as a matter of procedure.
The case has now been passed to the coronerLeave a comment:

My first thought was that when Fergie said he was retiring I immediately thought of Mourinho but then thought why would I want the guy when he will up and leave in a few seasons and the fact hes a ****er who's always involved in controversy, that won't bother Chelski as their club as a horrible rep anyway
Moyes not my first choice either but more than willing to give him a fair shot...Leave a comment:

Yeah I did put it in my post it was from the Villa match, Rooney made the pass to RVP goal and RVP said last night at the awards he only got the goal from the way Rooney's positioned the pass.
BTW everyone except Phelan said on MUTV when interviewed last night about them working with Moyes next season, I did'nt see Phelan talk last night, I'm not saying he wont be with us next season.Leave a comment:
