i have heard that the new usbloadergx may have a bug in it that allows games to brick wii's but he says he hasn't installed the newer version there is a chance he updated the shop channel a user on here did that once and it killed his mod but by no means bricked itsigpicComment

The new usbloadergx seems to cause a problem when trying to use the partial emu nand. I've had a few games that crash the loader and black screen when saving to partial emu nand but they always load when turning off partial emu nand. Keithuk has been using it for a while now aswell. I am aware that it has been developed with d2x in mind so am wondering if the brick issues you mention may be when launching from cios other than d2x. I will keep my ear to the ground and see if anything crops up. As you know I have bootmii as boot2 (seeing as you guided me through my first softmod) so do tend to try things on my own wii as it's pretty brick proof before I recommend them. Just wondering if tempo chose to install a theme when he was going through the modmii options (can't remember if it gives that option)
Edit...............modmii does ask if you want to install a themeLast edited by happy_highlander; 10 January, 2012, 22:48.Comment

I am back, sorry for late reply....I didn't touch the shop channel (I never had) and I didn't choose any theme.
I remember another thing now, when I insert my original just dance game to back it up , after ejecting the disc I have exited the usbloader and switch the console off. Turned on again and try to play just dance that was on my Hdd and I had a black screen. So I remember switching console off by press&hold the power button. when the console was off I have turn it on again and went to try to play again just dance and it did, I played a song and switch everything off and went to bed.
These where the exact things I have done that night that lead to find my bricked in the morning.Comment

Boot 2 is a piece of software, written by nintendo, that is part of a few programs that boot the wii. Bootmii, is piece of software written by team twiizers, which has two versions. The boot 2 version is made to replace nintendo's boot 2 software. This allows many things for homebrew most important of which is the ability to backup and replace all of your data in case of a brick. The other version of Bootmii, the IOS version, is the same program as the boot 2 version, but because it must be loaded by the rest of the system, it doesn't allow for the same brick protection. If you have a recent wii, you can't install the boot 2 version, and you are stuck with only the IOS version
these are not my words but taken from g-man at wiibrewsigpicComment

THis thread has gone on for a long time so I can't remember without searching 6 pages which USB Loader your using. The USB Loaders won't run if you don't have a SD card inserted even if you run them from a forwarder channel, unless you run it from the apps on the HDD.
Again it dpends on your USB drive but some will take a minute to start/speed up after they are powered.
Can you try a sysCheck and post the report so we can see which IOS's your using there as got to be something simple your missing?
You can only install 4.3 and maybe earlier 4.0's on an IOS you don't have a choice.Keith

Ok I do accept that I have now a nice door stopper....it is not a problem, I just would like to ask another question please......how old has got to be a wii to accept the safer way of installing bootmii as boot2? Serial numbers involved? I am thinking at the end of the month to buy another console and have another go......Comment
