      Hi

I have a Black Wii, with 4.2e System Menu, I have installed the Homebrew channel but couldn't install
the bootmii part, the MMM launches successfully
but I don't want to go any further and risk bricking
the Wii, I intend to play backups via USB HD, but i guess i need to back up my nand first, any ideas on the next steps, sorry if these are dumb questions total noob here
      regarding the Wii,

      cheers

i guess by saying you cant install bootmii you mean as boot2 ?
install as iso and carry on,you dont need a nand backup to play games off a hdd,its for restoring your wii to its former state if you have problems

Well youre doing better than I !

Once I have Homebrew Installed (including DVDx and bootmii) what next?
Do I follow the rest of the guide on the first page of this thread, sorry for being really stoopid, but like I said, this is completely new to me, so far I understand that I will be running backup games from a external USB Drive, would it be possible for someone to do an idiots guide using the few button presses 4.2 complete method, as world war 3 would break out at mine should I kill the wii

again sorrry for being completely noobish

Guys I will try and do a detailed guide this weekend, I work long shifts, I'm on holiday from Friday so will have plenty of time to do so.
Keep the faith peeps, if all else fails use the older tut just now.

Ok, I bit the bullet and had a go at the guide, however,
when runnning uloader I get an error and I am told
that cIOS222 and or cIOS223 are missing and required to
run, I had a look at what IOS are currently installed the
                      following are not 40,41, 43, 45, 46, 52, 202, 222, 223, 249, 250,

just a little confused as where to go from here, can anyone tell me the next steps I need to take

                      Regards

On the first page of this thread at the beginning is a link to download the complete softmod files you require.

                        complete4_2.zip

Get them and unzip them. Then save them to a clean formatted 1gig sd card.

Once you have done that go to this page

HOWTO: Setup a System Menu 4.2 Wii for playing backups of commercial games with uLoader Ade's Softmodding Wii blog

and follow the instructions very carefully

                                Hey guys

I've read the guide to soft modding the wii and decided to give it ago. I've done PSPs PS2s and iPhones in the past, so not a complete noob.

I have a wii that is pretty much fresh out the box (well it was Xmas morning) and it's bout time I got one use out of it...*

Reading the guide it seems like all I need to do is download the MMM files, whack em on a SD card, click a few buttons and PRESTO i'm ready to go.

This all seems a little easy, or is that really all there is to it?

I'm on my way home from work to give it ago, but just wanted to get this point straight before I started.

                                Thanks*
