I have a 4.3E Wii that I used LetterBomb to softmod. Being my first time modding, it was quite easy to get Homebrew Channel and BootMii on the unit. From there it has been a little tricky. I had basically a virgin console. Pulled out of the box, turned on and then softmod.

I was able to install the Trucha Bug after a bit of playing around.

I have been unable to get any of the WAD's to install using Multi-Mod Manager. I have tried a couple of different downloads of Multi-Mod Manager all to no avail.
I have also tried to install waninkoko's cIOS 249 and 250 using the latest version (cIOSX rev21). I found that I was unable to use the Wiimote to press A to finish install so I tried earlier versions and this was the same situation. I see others had this problem and it was suggested to use pimp_my_wii which I did unfortunately this didn't help.

I've been googling over and over but can't seem to find a method that works.

I have a copy of sysCheck output if that helps.

Well if you have USB Loader GX you can insert the disc and click the + button to install it onto the HDD and play it from there. USB Loaders will play PAL and NTSC games just the same.

          Homebrew Works with this

I found that Homebrew works following these steps but I have found Softmodding more difficult. Not very technically minded. Can anyone recommend a simple step-by-step method to do this for 4.3e

If you have a 4.3E then the cheapest method will be LetterBomb that will only softmod and nothing else. If you going to use an powered external hard drive then you should follow the USB Loader tutorials on here?

Gone a little off course in modding wii

Hi guys, got lost in the sea of advice iro wii 4.3 modding on the internet. I tried the letterbomb & managed to get homebrew channel on wii - however how do I play my copied discs? There is no neogamma etc.

Then tried indiana jones method (paid an extortionate price for one of e-bay). Keeps giving me the same error on trying to load IOS236 (-1035 error)

Anyone got an ideas? completely lost iro where to go now & unlpugged / plugged power back in around 40 times as keeps going to black screen when accessing MMM etc.

Please can someone give me an idea of how to resolve this easliy (I am on 4.3E)

              Thanks

              Vaughan

Now your on 4.3E but what was the version originally?

Nintendo fitted DVD drives on later maybe 4.1+ that won't play burnt discs obviously they where loosing money. Run sysCheck beta 11 and read the report as shown in that link. If it says The drive supports DVDs then you might be able to play burnt games through NeoGamma R8 or R9 which you can find on here.

There is also a site where you can type in your Wii serial number and it will tell you when and where it was made for Wii Drive Chip Databse

Now your softmodded your Wii I hope the first thing you did was the NAND backup thats a must, if you didn't let me know before you do anything else. You also need to install PriiLoader to block online and disc updates.

You shouldn't get a black screen with MMM thats basically used to install IOS and cIOS wads.

Now I don't know why you really want to play burnt games as that means you need to buy quality DVD's to burn them (you will need to store these hundreds of DVD's somewhere) your better of buying a large mains powered external HDD and play all you games of that.

You you use an external HDD then you need to install cIOS245 to cIOS251 for the USB Loaders to work.

Any problems the please start a new thread save tagging on to an old one?

Hmm - Sounds like I am missing a few aspects here

                  Many thanks for reply -

Haven't made a NAND back-up or prii loader

Wii has been previously soft modded when it was under 4.1 & 4.2.

Will look on threads to see how I can make a back up etc

Seen a separate trucha bug zip file which may allow me to findf a way around error -1035 on IOS236. I am following James Dean's 4.3 update with Indiana Jones original adventures.

Man this is complicated - Hindered by the fact that my two girls keep saying is it done yet? I am starting to think about taking a long drive...... Patience is not one of my strong points (just ask the wife - also foot hole in cheap cardboard kitchen door - yep new house)

Oh well - these things are sent to try us

Well the NAND Backup is the first thing you must do before you install any wads as I've said. Now I've have given instruction on how to do this but the search facility on here leaves much to be desired.

What your going to have to do is run the softmod install again. You will be shown 3 options if you remember.

                      1. Install Homebrew - which you have already.
                      2. Install BootMii on IOS - which I assume you have done, if not do this again.
                      3. Prepare SD card - this makes a [bootmi] folder on the SD card so you can do the NAND backup. Now this part everyone misses.

Check your SD card if you don't have the [bootmi] folder on the root you need to run 3. Prepare SD card. Run HBC from you Wii menu if you don't have any apps in the app folder on the SD card you won't see anything only the bubbles screen. If you do then just exit HBC with the Home button and choose Launch BootMii.

Now the remote doesn't work in this part so you have to navigate with the Power button to the gears icon on the right. Then press the Reset button then Reset again to backup your NAND and wait until this is completed.

A video if your not sure [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_nihgpiIHg"]How to Soft-mod your 4.3u Wii Tutorial Step 2- Back-up Nand and Installing Priiloader - YouTube[/ame]

After this is done and you navigate back to the Wii menu remove the SD card and put it into your computer. Copy the [bootmii] folder and the nand.bin and keys.bin files of the root of the SD card and store them somewhere safe as these will be needed to restore the NAND if you ever brick the Wii. The video shows you how to install PriiLoader as well.

There is Digital Kaos - Downloads - priiloader v0.7 in the download section.

I've installed HBC, BootMii. Did a backup, installed wad's and priiloader and changed the options in it, but it still doesn't want to read the DVD's. I'm a total and complete noob, so please go easy on me.

how old is your wii? if it was made in around the last couple of years it may not be able to play dvd backups.
