As CK says the later Wii's have a different DVD drive which stops you playing burnt games.
What app are you using to play these games?
NeoGamma R8 or R9 will play burnt games providing the drive supports this. If it shows a DVD read error 1167 then it won't play burnt games your better of the the long run using an external hard drive.
ImgBurn is the normal app people use to burn the iso to a DVD. As CK says you need quality DVD's to burn them on something like Verbatim dvd-r. I've heard of a user on here that used Nero and that did work.
Do a sysCheck and see if it says The drive supports DVDs at the top, if it does then you might have the earlier DVD drive.Keith

Yup it shows DVD read error 1167. So there's no way to get it to work? I have to use a hard drive? As CK says the later Wii's have a different DVD drive which stops you playing burnt games.

I have to agree again the new chips were not installed in the white wii's until the launch of the black ones so that rules out a 2006 wii but doesn't rule out that the wii may have been sent to ninty for a repair and been sent back with the new chip only the owner of the wii will know if that's possible.Comment

Well thats the error I get on my 2009 originally 4.2E Wii and I've burnt games with ImgBurn and a few makes of DVD but the same error number shows and I have had lense cleaner in the drive.
Stick to an external hard drive its going to be cheaper in the long run because quality DVD's aren't cheap plus you have to find somewhere to store hundreds of game discs.Keith

original 4.2 consoles is roughly when d3-2 were starting to be fitted the fact that his was purchased in 2006 means it was proberly 3.4 originly so it will play backup from dvd but as hh says perhaps the drive has been changed who knows except dagz. but i agree on the hdd side its the way forwardWell thats the error I get on my 2009 originally 4.2E Wii and I've burnt games with ImgBurn and a few makes of DVD but the same error number shows and I have had lense cleaner in the drive.

Well I'm saying mine was a 4.2E as I bought it in October 2009 and I may have clicked on system update, Wii system software says that.Keith

I hope you've done a NAND backup thats the very first job you do before you try to install anything else? Then you install PriiLoader 0.7
Which USB Loader are you trying to use?
What are you doing\installing to bring up this 1029 error?
All USB Loaders use cIOS249 have you installed that with MMM?Keith

Whoa, my brother did the Bannerbomb break on his older Wii and plays HEAPS of games through an extrenal HDD. He told me to do it and I got the HBC up and the BootMii launched the first time, but then gives a black screen from then on... I'll do the back up and SD card prepare and if all else fails, I'll start again with the Windows download. This is all a bit daunting now... wish me luck!Comment

Well you haven't followed a trusted turorial have you?
As part of the softmod install you must do all 3 options:
1. Install Homebrew.
2, Install BootMii.
3. Prepare SD card - which makes the [bootmii] folder on the SD card so you can do a NAND backup from the BootMii menu else you wil get a black screen.
The NAND backup is the very first job you do after softmodding.
What is your Wii system version?
I'm assuming your 4.3 because you've posted in the 4.3 mod so you should have used LetterBomb to softmod your Wii.Keith
