can anyone reccomend computer repairer in gateshead/newcastle

    just be careful with what you click. popups saying you have a virus from what looks like a strange program are usually to be avoided. if you see it again, dont click anything, try opening Task manager an kill the browser, i think that worked for me last time.

      i'm registering and setting up windows now.
      done that bit now its re-starting again.

        i now know ctrl alt del gets me to the task manager but before saturday i had never heard of it or used it and the same for safe mode etc.

          i'm now on toshiba page.
          its saying they reccomend mcafee,the first time i connect to the net mcafee will automatically update to protect pc. get additional protection by activating your subscription now. i then have 2 options activate 30 day sub now or activate later then next

              i clicked on the 30 day sub and registered i presume its free,windows is now updating so it needs to re-start

                i'm online now with i.e 8 i will set up a post just to get advice on the basic stuff i need now as i dont have firefox browser now etc and to get help with virus protection etc.
                i know i have option on clicking the thanks under posts what does clicking the scales do?

                  scales means a Mod will weigh out half an ounce of smoke and post it on, .

                    any more probs just reset to fatory settings , if your hard drive split in to 2 ? then save all you important stuff on the empty hd , this will be keeped it if you need to reset AS NEW , down the road!

                      it should come as no suprise but i dont understand the bit about the hard drive split in 2.
                      i thought the scales logo were super thanks or a reward etc.

                        by the way i'm submitting this from my computer as i cannot remember my password for this site however i think i was trying to log in as footycard_steve and it seems to be footycard steve with a space not underscore. i have the malwarebytes downloaded and running a full scan on the laptop as i type this.

                            from what i'm being told now in another post i'm 99% likely to still have the virus and the only sure way to get rid of it is to get a windows 7 disc and format the laptop.

                              link me to other post but i wouldnt think thats correct, your laptop has been completely wiped from a hidden partition on your hard drive. its clean as a whistle.

                                its from my post in the general pc section starting laptop starting from scratch posts #19,25,27.
                                today i updated and ran malwarebytes and mcafee both full scans and both found nothing at all.
