From tomorrow sly will not pair any more cards to thomson hd boxes,
I sub-contract for insurance companies and I have received a email stating that any thomson hd boxes that have broken down and need replacing then I have to phone sly and they will book one of their engineers to come and replace their thomson box,
So sly will just slowley burn out all these boxes with high ecms,
So maybe we might just have a little longer in hd,
As for sd I can't see them replacing all sd customers with sly+hd boxes,
But I would not be suprised if they soon stopped pairing sd boxes and replaced them with the new hd multiroom boxes that can most probs can handle this new software.

The problem they face with this is people who have the old PVR2/3/4 models wont be very happy to accept a HD model which cannot record, I can see them phasing them out with Recon HD+ when there is enough to go round, at the moment though they will have to get shut of the Thompson with recon PVR5's and then move onto the Samsung which struggles with updates and the older Amstrad. Its pretty much a Vicious Circle and will probably take some time, and before anyone asks i am just hazarding a guess at the replacement Boxes but it will have to happen at some point

The ?10.25 a month charge is not compulsory its there if you want to view your subscribed SD channels in HD you dont have to if you dont want too, you also get 5 HD channels free which you do not with an SD receiver.

I doubt there is 10.5 million SD and Thompson box users out there, at the last count there was probably just over 4 million SD users the rest being HD customers so out of that 6.5 million at least half must have the latest PVR5 if not more, and i would imagine existing customers will be offered a Recon PVR5

Just wondering that if everyone is going to eventually have only HD channels, are they also going to be forced to pay a additional ?10.25 per month for the privilege ?
