They have been offering me a free upgrade for Years, I refuse as it's connected to an old HDTV with component and no HDMI.

What happens if I don't swap my box?

You will not be able to access your full Sky TV service. This means that you may not be able to view HD channels through your Sky box and be unable to benefit from new Sky services such as On Demand and Catch Up TV. nothing about sd.

so does this mean when sly have the new pairing system it will only stop us from viewing hd channels but the sd channels will still work?

You may need to get a sd aquatic large cat as the provider would have to change the hd card,

I wonder if a new or updated emu will be at all possible, or even if the relevant data can be dumped from the box, I'm guessing if it can be done it won't be anytime soon.

If SD can still be shared it won't be too bad losing HD but I'm sure that will be locked up in future as well.

                    Interesting times ahead.

Viasat HD went off, but SD still ok & they use NDS.

My hopeful guess is that it could be the same for the UK.

I would be very suprised indeed if they did some how stop the sd,
Like digicon says there is a lot of sd boxes out there and it would cost sly a awfull lot of money to change all these boxes, and besides all this there are plenty of other sats to feed from,

Are they ........ oh well that could take them a while but if your right then it looks like cs days are numbered,
A lot of sd customers have there own insurance with private companies and the customer usualy phones them when there is a problem,
So unless they start sending letters out to these customers they will not get upgraded,
Maybe they may stop pairing sd boxes up and do it that way?

well i just upgraded to multi room the other day with my own boxes

they never mentioned about my boxes being useless for hd in the future ? went through the entire pairing process...gave the details over the phone, the exact ones they ask for in the "letter" at the start of this thread

currently not having any issues with the multiroom card in a 3rd party reciever

With all the transponder changes of late they are definitely up to something.
