Sly have been having problems with their card pairing system today,
I have had to replace 3 pvr4 amstrads today as card reader has burnt out on them,
When calling sly to pair cards back up they have asked to call back later as their system is down.... and this has been for most of today,
So they may be having some problems with this new software....

That's the best news on this topic so far... Lets hope every card reader on updated box's burn out, That will stop them in their tracks for a while! I have an installer m8, I will check in with him and see if he is experiencing the same thing... On the box's you were replacing, had they all got the new firmware?

Yes but this has been happening for some time,
We think this is down to the high ecm's burning the viewing card and burning the reader out,
But this may be on purpose to exterminate the thomson boxes that are still out there,

Very True, we all know that Sly would be more than capable of sabotaging customers Box's to further their own needs.. The box's you replaced were Amstrad's though not thomson's right? Would 3 reader burn outs in a day be an extraordinary day or could you see that on an average day?

Would be cheaper just not to update their card and get a engineer to go out and replace box. They wouldnt sacrifice new boxes just to get old ones.

3 in one day is not usual...up untill about 4 months ago I never hardly got a reader burn out,
I sub from insurance companies and today I had 4 jobs of wich 3 card readers had burnt out and the other was a samsung pvr4 that was stuck in standbye, on 2 of these boxes the cards were damaged so badly they no longer worked so maybe things are not going to plan, who knows, but I would definately say that the new control measures are causing this, and this is going to cost them a lot of time and money,

Time and money are two things they have plenty of, but it would be great if this security measure turned out to be nonviable financially.. And if this is causing any card reader burnouts in their newer box's, that could well be the case.. If there is a higher rate of burn outs in last 4 months since they started experimenting with their pairing system, obviously there are going to be more burnouts in the future seriously reducing all of their Amstrad's lifespan expectancy.. Surely, that would be a price 5ky were not be prepared to pay for the small % of business CS costs them.. Fingers crossed..

If this is beggining of the end of CS on 28e... I can see the cable CS scene picking up big time.

The 28e crowd who all moved over when vm went nag3 will just go back. Leaving the enthusiasts and hobbyists on the sat scene.

yeh but no one will spoon feed u how to do n3
and its alot harder than what 99% of people think they can do
its not converting some numbers to hex = card working in server

and some members can back me up when i say this

theres only a handfull of people who can do cable cs and they will not tell u anything

The white card in my amstrad is burnt out the chip has almost gone so i need a new card it is getting very hot i have phoned sly and they said they will sent a new card out but cancelled the old one straight away

When Nag3 came in, it really was the beginning of the end for c/s on S%*- with any luck these security implementations will eventually bring in a new dawn for the minority of hobbyists that only scratch the surface of damage that the immigrants from cable are doing.

Hobbyists that share have never really bothered providers.

8 years now for me, In that period I've seen changes..... but always another door opens for the hobbyist with a motorized system.

I just hope that this current change is a dragged out one & the final nail in the coffin for the current encryption is a long way off.

ok peeps i took the risk , i put my card in original xxx box. now the card i put in has full sly sub but i hasnt been on in a few months. i put it in box half an hour ago and none of the channel were clearing oops. anyway i forced the box to update software that took about ten minutes when box came back on all was ok. i took card out put it into oscam and wala everything is fine working 100% in oscam. im in NI if that makes any difference. drx 890-c

I wonder if they have removed the new firmware in light of reports of card readers burning out.
