WoS has a very hard earned reputation as a market leader in the satellite world for his after sales and customer support. The next question is who/where to buy from? World Of Satellite gets lots of publicity from its forum but does not appear to sell through Amazon. Radtv (96%) & Rockdale (92%) both do. For a newbie like me, somewhere with helpful after sales service is always helpful. If it has any relevance, I live in Birmingham.Comment

Cant comment on the quad plus but i do have the quad and its almost as good as my solo2. I also have many friends who prefer the quad over the solo2Comment

And I have just sold my Solo2 and bought a Duo2 and the Front VFD Screen on the Duo2 is rubbish my LX3 Screen is far superior should I have gone with the Quad Plus

I wanted the flexibility of the 4 tuners and Sadly the Solo2 could not be upgraded as I did not fancy USB Tuners I did like the Solo2 though and the Duo2 is very well built I noticed the Quality when I fitted a Hard Drive just the screen is Kack

I'll comment on the quad plus........
It's a very very good box. The reason you don't hear bad things about it is because it just works. Granted it doesn't run Black hole but that's an image I stopped using on my own boxes a long time ago. I haven't even gotten round to trying the new vix image yet as open atv is rock solid. Tsmedia and ondemand plugins work very well and streams start very quickly with no buffering as of yet plug and play tuners recognised straight away and switching between sat and cable tuners when using a combo channel list isn't even noticeable, in fact it is no different to the switching time on my diseqc switch attached to one of the sat tuners. Only small gripe I have is that there is no internal fan. This does help keeping the noise down but the system runs at around 45? so we will see in time how this effects the longevity of the components.Comment

Can i just remind members on here and those who may have a certain affiliation with one company that it is in the best interest for the member seeking advice where to buy to make his own conclusion as to where to make his purchase.
This could be Amazon, Ebay,WOS, Red Apple Digital, Goldwafers, Sat-Shop etc.. and the list goes on. you could always try a German E-Tailer such as HM-Sat, Satking etc...
And just to add all of the above will have Good Feedback and also Negative Feedback and so back to the point. Do not take one members word for it do a little digging on the internet first and find out what Customer service is all about as all of those i have listed all have Good and Bad points some more than others.

That is the one thing that put me off the Quad as I had always fancied one and I know how important cooling is as I build up my own PC's and I have 5 120cm fans in thatI'll comment on the quad plus........

my Duo2 is running at 29c with the fan running at 1930 rpm now that is cool enough for me
The LX3 has a fan but their is no control over it it is either on/auto or off and I have no idea what the temps are but hopefully the vix Team might be able to incorporate Fan Control for it in a later build of vix (fingers crossed)Last edited by nsw9154; 7 July, 2014, 12:39.Comment
