    S11 Bricked

    Hi
I have a S11 with the same problem, tried all the different ideas suggested on the forum about 12 firmwares but still wont flash,
swapped power supplies with another box and power supply ok, just seems some people have more luck than others,
mine S11 is now redundant, gave up

but keep trying in the end you may get lucky

I have a totally bricked Openbox S16 please help

A friend of mine brought me this box(Openbox s16 HD PVR) for a repair and he told me that he bricked it while upgrading software. It is totally dead nothing on display.
There is no connection to RS232 with few different loaders.
The voltages inside are OK, the cable I'm using is 100% OK tested on few different boxes.
Please advise, any kind of JTAG procedure on this boxes?
    Thanks.

Hi,just wanted to add my experiences I had with trying this if it will help.I was trying to flash completely bricked openbox s11 after satmeter or hot coax killed it??Anyhow I was using the usb to serial method as i didnt have proper com port.I spent a whole day 10 hours trying to get it to flash with no luck.Tried next morning again with no expectations just for curiosity and flashed straight off and the no ch display came on front panel and knew it was back from dead.My tips from this are that it probably best using when computer is cool with no other programs running. Also for peoples getting the sync stbs please reset message dont think this is an error cos when it worked I got that and then a little "done" graphic comes up and it starts dl fw and flashes. When I pressed connect I switched box on straight away to flash successful. With the usb to serial It worked with leaving the assigned com port that the adaptor chose which was com 3 instead of changing. Also I fiddled around with the settings on the disc that came with the usb serial adaptor fro windows xp.Like said its a matter of perseverance with all this.Flashed s11 with s10 fw and working fine.

the config.bat just sets the correct files to use, which may be included already set in some loader packages. The eromclient.abs has to match the processor in the receiver and vary in size depending on the processor/receiver you are trying to flash.

    downloaded http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...de_8mflash.rar

then downloaded some older firmware -
    SKYBOX_3601hd_CMT_120820071a.abs
(if you search google you will find it)

Then I plugged the box in and attached the null modem cable,
opened up the erom upgrade folder and ran CONFIG.BAT
    then ran EROMUPGRADE

    Selected the firmware I downloded
    Ticked Include Bootloader
    Clicked next
    when it says-
    synchonizing stb
    Reset target

I unplug and replug the power cable out of the back of the box quite fast it will then let you carry on and recover the box

once recovered you can update to a later firware via usb or the X3 Lan tool.

hope this works for you as I was pulling my Hair out yesterday

    Thank you soooo much mate!!!

I tried probably about 10 diferent software to reflash my skybox m3 and every single time Ive seen "set stb memory error". I thought Ill try last time and if that doesnt work Ill binn this box.

NOW Everybody who has the same problem!!!
Every single instruction I founded on how to do it, there was no mention about running config.bat before you start, there was not even config.bat included.

After running config.bat, first attempt to flash my box and it worked for me!!!

I cant thank you enough. You are the star!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
Tried all above ideas but still no joy,
The lead is correct as i have used it on others, but I cant remember the last firmware so I have given up and its beaten me, spending to much time on it.
Has correct voltages without a diagram, I can only test the 240v

    Thanks for help

    Thanks Slug,
but is normal that when openbox is connected to pc with nullmodem cable, it doesn't switch on? That is, I switch on button on the back, but display remain black. If I disconnect cable from pc then the openbox switch on.

s16 uses it's own loader or the old s10 loader v2.0.0f
