Made a big mistake buying one of those F3's....had a fair few boxes over the years but this is doing me head....DM and VU are the only was to go for a decent quality unit
Works fine n all but the menu's are shite, wifi is crap(aerial jobby).
Gladly swap it for a half decent DM500 or an old 600

I have had my Skybox f3 for quite a few days now.

            What i want.....

I want to have my Skybox f3 ready to put my CCcam in (when acquired)

            What i have done....

Since getting the box through i seem to have spent days scrolling through information to see if anything can help me with the setup.

            Where am i stuck....

WELL I have updated my box through USB with THE NEXT GENERATION 2 firmware,

I then went on to try to use a Realtek RTL8191SU wireless network adapter to connect my Virgin Super HUB, However the Skybox would not even identify that the dongle was attached even though i have made sure that WPA was set to WPA and not set to WPA/WPA2 on the HUB, so i just moved my HUB to connect through ethernet cable.

But what should i be doing now?
How do i know if the ethernet is connected properly?

I hate to trouble people for help but there is so much conflicting information and it seems as if only bits apply to me!

Any help that anyone leaves me is Greatly Appreciated

Set ur SSid with small or capital letter (all)

set ur auth to wpapsk or wpa2psk (AES)

set ur password with 5 or 13 chars.
              eg:
              -abc12
              -ABC12
              -abcdefgh12345
              -ABCDEFGH12345

              Please try and give feedback.

                  So, am I.
                  Cannot use over LAN.

What is your current firmware version?

Before ON your STB, please make sure that your router is already connected first.
                  Then, wait until :

                  1. USB device ON
                  2. Wifi device ON
                  3. AP connected
                  4. Your STB willl get the IP address if you're set as DHCP

                  Thanks.

the way i found out that there was a problem with the router was to tether a unprotected network. changed the router to wpa2 and within 2 10 seconds the dongle connected.

i would personally suggest people buy the official dongle. its well worth it and can be used with windows pc's. i found the drivers and uploaded on to this site for anyone to download.
Id appreciate them mate. I bought the official wifi dongle with it but havent even tried much with it, due to the box not picking it up.

                            Hi Guys
I also faced the problem of wifi not gettin connected. Try these steps and i am 100% sure it will work.
                            1) Make sure that the auth is set to wpapsk or wpa2psk (AES) and mine password is 8 digits with everything in capital letters.
                            2) Press the reset button of your router.
                            3) Start your skybox with wifi(mine is official skybox wifi dongle) plugged in. Go to network ..then to wifi set up and make sure DHCP is on click apply. and then restart your skybox
                            4) Again go to Network then to wifi and select your wireless connection and then put your password and click connect.
It will say AP connected then it will show a ip address and thus job done.

let me know if it works or not. Mine is working everytime by following this procedure
                            cheers

                                Wifi woes

Hello everyone, I had problems setting up my official skybox dongle on Virgin superhub. A firmware update fixed it for me. Good luck.
