I have discovered a fix for this, well for the F5, so should work! When you enter your password for your router, press connect, when it is saying "connecting" pull the power lead out of the back of box, then plug it back in. Once it has rebooted the box will connect to the wifi. By the way I have a Virgin Media Super Hub. Hope it works for you all!!

I find older firmware to work better on f3 with wifi I'm using the Scooby snack image on my f3 and it's flawless on official wifi nano dongle

I suggest to use a wifi repeater
I think there is neither firmware nor dongle working on this box
I bought a wifi repeater on Banggood for 11 euros...
I use my phone as wifi hotspot and I connect the skybox to the ethernet output of my repeater.
            It works like a charm
