...but all the $ channels work when the $ly box is switched off!
This sounds like a unique problem. Somehow your $ly box is interfering with your internet connection by the sounds of it? The "no signal fix" doesn't differentiate between FTA & $ channels, it allows the channels on the vertical transponders to be received when the $ly box is used at the same time.
How is your F5 connected to the internet?
Are you sure that ALL FTA work & ALL $ channels don't work when the $ly box is on?Comment

Don't understand how there could be a clash of IPs as router allocates IPs dynamically using its built-in DHCP server.Comment

I have an F5 and had no issues with it until I used the loop feature of the F5 to feed my $ky box and had plans on just only ever having one on at any one given time.
However, I soon discovered some channels lost the signal (ie 5% signal) on my F5 even though the $ky box was on standby and even occasionally problem with $ky box recording would fail randomly stating lost signal as the cause.
I narrowed the failure/no signal problem to the loop feature because as soon as unscrewed feed from F5 to $ky box, the signal went back to normal on my F5 even though the $ky box was in standby at the time.
I have ordered some coax so I can have a dedicated feed from dish/LNB to the F5, and separate dedicated feeds to $ky box. This will still leave me with one spare feed at the LNB for future use.
yupyaa, are you using the loop feature of the F5 in which case try, whilst viewing a no signal channel, just unscrewing the loop feed and see if signal returns.Last edited by bbb_uk; 15 September, 2013, 13:41.Comment

Nope I'm not using the loop atal,
As I stated I have a quad lnb, two cables are running to the $lybox downstairs . And a seperate cable running to the f5 in my room. There's a spare slot on the lnb.... Strange y it won't work.Comment

Buy the fix it will fix your problem
it sounds like a power drop from the lnb when both boxes are connected
if the sly box works when the F5 is off and unplugged & vise a versa when the F5 is on sly box is off
leave the sly box on but disconnect the cable's from the lnb then check the F5 see if your getting the channels if so
plug the sly cables back in & i will bet you the F5 channels will vanishComment
