Dreambox streaming to internet,it was never easy like this

I am still not able to put the software working.

On the setting of the streamer when I click on the last ? to test dynamic dns and port forwading I get an error saying that my dns was not created or updated. I have used my static IP and the result was the same.

So maybe I have a problem creating this dns. Could you explain with some dettail how to created this dns?

I have created one following all the pictures that I saw on the Tunisian forum but I am not sure if I did it OK.

PS - an update: If on the streamer server port settings I enter 1234 I get the error I mentioned but if I enter port 5678 it says it is OK

you do not need dns address because you have static ip
instead filling dns address fill your static ip
you do not have to test it ,but if you want from
start-run-cmd
write this
ping dnsaddress
if it is ok it will give something like this

i will not promise to get clear continuous video because streaming with low upload speed(80 kb/s and upload transfer speed 8 kb/s with 512 kb/s adsl speed

but imagine with 700 kb/s upload speed(4 mg/s adsl speed),the quality of video stream will be

for all have faced problems with the program , port 1234 and port forwarding
please use VLC download version .99 and avoid using version 1.0.0
i advice using port 1234 because it is the vlc default

check version of vlc you are using
last vlc version 1.0.0 is not compatible with program
use vlc .99 and everything will be ok

I just bumped into this thread and i downloaded and installed your tunisia-sat dreambox player and streamer5.0 ..

And I actually managed to stream! Locally and on the internet ... I own a Dreambox 500 with Gemini, thus i get the same blurry screen as in post #11, by mfaraj57, in this thread ...

I hope this can be fixed in the future

quality of video streaming depends in two things
1-Type of dreambox and the image installed on it
Pli-jade is the best for internet and local streaming while Gemini is the worst
Enigma 2 dreamboxes(dm800,dm8000,dm7025) are better regarding streaming than enigma1 dreamboxes(dm500,dm600....)

2- Internet speed
The program does transcoding(compression and conversion) for dreambox stream before restreaming to internet
this process transcoding downgrades the quality of the video stream,as much as you did compression the qaulity get worse
in program settings there are three choices ,according to your internet speed select your option
low upload speed -gives the worst stream
medium upload speed gives better streaming
high internet speed gives the best video stream quality

For all the users of this fantastic forum that cant make the mfaraj software work, please search for " Dreambox Streaming Over the Internet Using Orb.pdf " and make sure that with a PLI image to not to input all string but just the http://192.168.x.xxx:31344 without any subsequent stream info of the channel.

Yes I am sure about having a static IP - I pay more because of that!!

I have seen the internet streams adress but they come and go very quickly. I am not able to read them. Is there a way to keep them stick for me to copy and paste it?

And I have port 1234 forward to my PC IP - DHCP IP - but I am not 100% sure it's working because I have tried the port scanner and it says that port is closed.

PS - I was able to get the stream adress and I have used both the xxx.dyndns.org account that I have created and my statci IP but none of them work.

This problem because the program is incompatible with version vlc 1.0.0
installation of vlc .99 will solve the problem
just open port 1234 or what port you like and you do not have to check by online internet checkening tool or other method because most of them will give false results
just go to program and start streaming

However, if i manually transcode the stream from my dreambox to my PC using VLC, i can watch it via the internet with ease! If mfaraj57's new release will not sort the issue, i will post a quick guide!

Obviously it will not come in a nice program, and will require some manual inputs/effort, however it works 100%

with regards to the question about ports being forwarded, check their status with PFPortChecker

the program is designed to work with version .99 and incompatibe with vlc 1.0.0
