Howdy all - Could do with idiots guide to Technomate 5400 CI+ USB super
Many thanks to you all...been a real struggle. Can find Hotbird 13E easy but Thor 1.0W is a nightmare. Think the location of my dish is an isssue to be honest. The blok that installed it put it at ground floor level and Ithink it's not an ideal position. Maybe I'll get a man in...let's see. I'll sleep on it. I've got a satellie finder but it made no difference when I was trying to locate Thor...suggesting that there's possibly an obstacle in the way. Many thanks for all your help fellas.
my dish is on the a post in the back garden mate...that extra 10ft or so isnt going to make any difference.
If you goto dishpointer.com and put the x where your dish is it will tell you if theres any objects in the way.The fact youve got 13E is a good start

On here is shows the available satellites for my location. (MK10 9HR)
Looks like to get 1.0W INTELSAT 10-02 (C-Band) I'll need a 300CM Dish - but to get 0.8W INTELSAT 10-2, THOR 3,5 – North Europe I need either a 50, 90 or 120 cm depending on the Beam/EIRP (dbW). Issue is I've no idea what BEAM/EIRP (dbw) mean.
This is one hell of a learning curve eh!
If I can't locate 1.0w...am I stuffed? And if not - how do I move on and get this show on the road?

hello again "Humans 1st"
what is your location? the further north you are the bigger the dish needed.
I"m just south of the humber and can get 1West on an 80cm fine.forget C band.it sounds like you are reading too advanced stuff at the moment.
the dish needs to be at least twice the distance away from the height of any obstruction ie: if you have a 10ft hedge the dish needs to be 20 feet from it.
you wont need the firmware from technomate to patch your box or a loader if you patch via the usb port read "noobs guide to patching your technomate"in the red sticky section you will also find the patch needed in the thread above make sure you select the right one.but I"d get the setup right 1st.did you read all the guides on setting up motoriseddishes?
I checked the one you said was corrupt and they work ok on"firefox",internet explorer does not always work.
the mounting pole must be 100 percent plumb checked with a spirit level all round otherwise you just wont track the arc the satellites are in.
most people set up on thor 1W as its their nearest due south sat but we can talk you through a setup on another sat if needed.anyway we wont abandon you til your up and running.
Set up on 1 west bbc world. Send dish to bbc world then manually move dish untill bbc world gives a strong signal. Once happy with reception tighten the dish.
The key to using usals is how it is installed. dish should be slightly loose and then send it to 1 west. Usals now thinks it's there, you then physically move the dish by hand to get best signal on bbc world. Tighten up and as long as dish as bracket is plumb then it will find all other sats available to you.
