I got an email from the sat-shop support forum with a voucher for the forum members only. Vu+ duo ?269 delivered.
Seems the prices are starting to fall In preparation for the duo2.

Oh B*gg%r. And there's me about 100% on getting a new Uno.
That throws a spanner in the works (in a nice way)

Others will follow I have no doubt. Still scope for more movement down to clear shelves I bet.

I'm still 70%/30% on an Uno due to size/speed/memory/etc at this moment. If it comes down some more though......

Please make sure you don't take any advice from me. I've just looked at my own advise here, ignored it and ordered a Duo.

Those urges to 'just buy that gadget' just got the better of me this morning, so like the weak, weak fool that I am, I just placed order for Duo from Sat-Shop.
At the end of the day, there is no knowing how long the Uno twin tuners will take to hit the stores and what the prices will be, and I do want a twin tuner.
Sure the Duos will/may reduce in price over the next months, but the deal is still a good one now, so thought "B*ll*cks to it" and pulled the trigger.

Sometimes I really hate these forums.

The Duo is a great box no doubt about it fine for everyday viewing of satellite Tv and the like but its not without its problems the tuners are not great for weak fringe reception if your into that sort of thing, But then again there are better boxes designed for DX'ers anyway.

The problem you face is if the rumours true that the duo2 will be out say Oct/Nov then not only do prices drop substantially to get shut of old stock but eventually support dries up as well. It may take time for support to dwindle but for those who purchased a duo new some nearly 4 years ago for ?479 then its been a great box and they have had there moneys worth out of it.

Problem is i'll want the duo2 then. Can't see us getting much change out of ?500 for them though.
In the interim I'm stuck with a duo clone that struggles to drive my motor
Have to keep rebooting and using satfinder to change sats.
Got the mrs banging on about showing her how to use the duo, but not gonna let her loose on it till it's idiot proof.

Hear what you are saying, but I am taking the gamble that it'll still have some life. There are still loads of owners out there, clone and non-clone. Don't think ?269 is too shabby in the circumstances.

Your Clone is at least trying to drive the motor i have seen some that wont drive them at all, There are a few possible solutions for this.

                    1. Buy another and hope you get a good one Duo Clone PSU from China.

                    2. when changing satellites does the problem occur when changing to sweep a large ARC like say go from 28.2? east to 30.0? west if so try going to each individual satellites or try just 2 at a time instead of one big ARC sweep

                    3. change from USALS to Diseqc 1.2 mode and use the advanced mode in the service searching and store each satellite individually.

I think most of the problems stem from people doing large ARC sweeps that puts added pressure on the PSU as well as switching from a Vertical TP 13v to a Horizontal TP 18v, you could try if your current channel is a V TP then choose another V TP on a different sat and see if that helps, Then at least the psu is not only trying to drive the motor but also do the TP switching as well.

                    worth a try

It will be interesting to see how my genuine box compares vs the prev clone
With the clone, when it was working, I had the same issue as you driving my Technomate 2600. I am hoping/praying that this won't be an issue for the genuine box.

Its a very good sat box for the price but people must understand they are purchasing what is now nearly 4 year old Tech and has been superceeded by the tech thats in the Uno/Ultimo and then shortly to be the Duo2 and Solo2.

As you say you went against your own advice

err, think you are missing the point m8. He's talking about the Duo2, not the Duo.
Orig genuine Duo can be had for ?269 delivered. Duo2 is likely to be a whole load more.

Yep, guilty as charged. Moment of madness

But then I did not see people saying "don't buy a Duo" weeks, if not days ago, when the price was nearer 300 quid in the UK and people were arguing the t*ss over shipping from German or not.
                              Hey, ho.

he was talking about possible price for the new Duo2 and not the current Duo LOL, And ?329 from that site is extortionate
