Hi again to All!
I has succesfully reprogramed the ftdi chip, but when I trying to reprogram the Atmega with PonyProg, it has no connection to Atmega...
Here the link for my first post about my VCDS.

Here the photos of my work (soldering) and PonyProg screenshots.
two wires on the voltage regulator module (middle pin) - one to lpt port and one to the ground of power supply - is this ok?
what wrong in my work?
maybe, i must configure the LPT port?

Hello
connections to Atmega are OK. Do you power up with 12V? LPT port must be cofigured as EPP but I`m not sure as I use Pony SI-Prog. Try with difrent resistors on LPT cable beetwen 1k to 470 Ohms.
I hope this will help you, I wish you a lot succes
Regard Davorin
Hello
the ground (middle pin) must be connected to the GND power supply and to the lpt ground pin (one of 18-25pin's of LPT - you can use 18,19,20 together for one connection to the cable for example)
1. I suggest you reduce the length of wires not more than 15-20cm from the resistors.. (depends on LPT cable)
2. use normal or SPP (same meanings for both) for settings of paraller port
3. try different resistors, as Dado76 recommended.. but be carefull, LPT cannot provide to much current..
Thank You very much!
Of course, 12v power connected. Diode on VCDS are flashes, when PonyProg is operate, but erasing of Atmega failes (look screenshot)...
My resistors are 1k-ohms for now. And the length of wires from Atmega to LPT are about 50 cantimeters.
I will try resistors 550 ohms and 330 ohms - because I have only it.
How can I check, that Atmega's backplate is soldered to ground?
Here the photos of LPT connector (with resistors in the green tubes) - are all ok? and the photos of VCDS on my working place - you can check the length of wires - is that normal? I will now cut the wires - make it 15 cantimeters maximum.

you must connect 2+12 and 3+11
I use 70-80 cm wires and 1k resistors and is OK
the gnd backplane to ATMEGA should be ok, you can check easilly by ohmmeter, pin 16,28,39 are GND
but before it, check the connection on your LPT. I suggest from your picture that. Right top pin is 25 - GND, right bottom, the most right pin is 13, than pin 4,5 should be empty but there is connected resistors to ATMEGA.. check it..
and btw, length of cables is good.. now

hello i have vcds 10.6 chinese... it worked maybe 10 day and then it died... when i plug it into usb cable is identified as "FFFFFFFFFFF..."... cable runs on ft232bl and doesnt have stc chip.. does anyone have solution for this? i will upload pics.. thank you
In my VCDS908 i have sma problem before. After change 1 digit in RT-USB driver from 0 to 1 .This stops FTDI chip to write own VID and PID.After that i do not problem with unplug cable from usb. This is solution that i read in forum but i dont remember who is write it.Maybe help to you.Best RegardsThat is the file

You need to reprogramm it.
Our friend Aminebot it is expert in this and he explain here why it happend to you this.
Just becasue you need to stop ross-tech to check your "licence"
Is it in this forum an .bat file which can do this. It is named " disable updates" and it put a file name "hosts" in this 2 directoies C:\windows and in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
Inside this file it writes like this:
127.0.0.1 update.ross-tech.com
I will share this file if you want to pt it manually in that 2 directories befor starting first time an internet sesion after the VCDS instalation.
Good luck
