    Ok I'll go for it

A mount is not required for any of this. As long as you can connect to the box via your router, and your box can also connect to the net then you are sorted.

I can't help any current issues you have so I will have to assume you start from the beginning. I would normally recommend that you backup your settings but since your image is doing wierd things I would strongly suggest that you don't. Please read through all of this before you begin, if you don't fancy any stage and you want to ignore it.. please disregard all of it. There is no point in me typing all this for you to pick and choose, this is how to get it to work..... almost guaranteed

Download Bonesy's Image, it includes the HDD files required. You will also require the bootloader as the backup images don't include it. I am pretty sure that is included in the rar as well although I can't be positive.

This mini guide assumes you have half a clue what you are doing and that you know how to connect your dreambox to your router, and that your router is setup for DHCP.

Turn the box on at the mains while holding in the power button.
Make note of the IP address stated on the LCD of your Dreambox.
Open IE on a computer also connected to the router and type the IP address into the address bar 192.168.x.xxx usually.
Click Flash and then click Browse to select Bonesys image.
Wait on the image being uploaded.
    Restart the box.
You will probably get an error, in which case use DreamUp to upload the 2nd stage boot that is compatible with your box.
    Scan for channels
Connect to your box via FTP and copy the files in the HDD.rar into the root of your harddrive.
You should end up with /media/hda1/e2_loadepg/*
Load in your cams etc and make sure the image is fully functional.
Edit the radiotimes conf file to correspond to your channel list (try 1 channel at first just to check it works)
Telnet to the box by typing in 'telnet 192.168.x.xxx' to the "run" box
    type "root" as the password
    type cd /media/hda1/e2_loadepg
    type e2_loadepg.py
Wait approx 40 mins (a lot less if it is only 1 channel as a test)
Once box has re-booted you should have 14 day epg.

    Hope that helps.

@Scotster - AllyB needs a mount as he said in an earlier post he hasn't installed a hd into his box.

I read it that he did have a HDD in his box and that he also used a mount. I think he assumed the mount was required.

I'm quoting his earlier post when I asked him...

no i do have an internal hdd.

            im a she btw boys

my main issue tbh is the channels skipping. it doesn't happen straight away though, seems to happen after the box has been on a while. then same again the next day.
wondering if it could be overheating but like i say never had the problem previously worked fine under nabliosat.

yes i have an internal hdd
no i cant get the flippin thing to mount to my pc, i know this is not strictly needed but makes it easier to copy files over.
still have not tested telnet as i am not home til tomorrow, will do so then.

              thanks Scotster.

I have previously done everything up to the telnet, but i did not scan i simply used my saved settings from dreambox edit. maybe something is causing the channels to duplicate with the radio times list conf file??

i shall start from scratch once i am home, because the channels once they start changing are doing so every few minutes, extremely annoying tryin to watch the footie!

thanks again il report back tomorrow

You don't need a mount to copy files over. The mount is used for your Dreambox to access your PC.

Easiest way to connect to your dreambox is to use explorer. I just open a window and type ftp://192.168.X.XXX and it takes me to my dreambox. If I want to go directly to the HDD I type ftp://192.168.X.XXX/Media/HDA1/ and the job is done.

Just start from scratch and see where you end up

                  Oi Cheeky

I know how to copy files over (I use flash fxp) I've had a dm800 for quite some time this is just a new image for me.
I know I don't need a network mount but I just prefer it as i can move files between devices on my net (bit of a gadget girl )

Yeah once I get home I'll start from scratch it seems the easiest option.
I hope you realise you guys aren't allowed to leave your computers tomorrow, after all I am, "just" a girl

I do appreciate the help though.

iv already edited that file. could anything else cause that error?

the epg is def not working properly here, on top of those errors im not getting anything through for the movie and sports channels beyond 1 day.

the error your getting is telling you the answer ie:

31-12-2009 02:18:18 Warning ! Channel name "bbc 1 ne & c" is not present in lame

as for only getting one day then somethings diffo wrong with your setup.
The wya I did the image and inlcuded everything it will work if you follow my detailed instructions. Your the only one having problems that I have read.

I'm a newbie as far as the Dreambox goes and have a DM800-HD that I am trying to get to grips with. It is a clone.

Up to now, I have been using a Topfield Freeview receiver that users the radio times data that has been collected by a PC from the RT website. I also have a DVBS2 card in my PC that collects the Freesat seven day epg automatically whenever I tune to "Bit Shorts" (and I think it also does it on the ITV-HD channel). This functionality is built in to the DVBViewer software for the PC.

I have read that the Nabilosat firmware will also get the Freesat epg but I only seem to get the Sky EPG off-air from the "Hip Hop" radio channel. Of course the Sky and Freeview EPG's are only 7 days and I would like to get the Radiotimes 14 day epg on my DM800 with my existing Nabilosat 0.12 rom.

I realise this is a "cable" topic but I assume a similar system can be used to get the data imported for a "sat" system!

                            Any advice/info much appreciated.

im not trying to blame your image, i just don't understand either how to fix my lamedb file, i have made all my changes to my dreambox channels via dreambox edit, and how to stop the channels skipping. I was hoping someone could advise me that's all.

Hi Bonesy , would your image take much tweaking to be applied to a dm800 with External HDD ? If so , would it be within the realms of a mere tool like myself .
