im not trying to blame your image, i just don't understand either how to fix my lamedb file, i have made all my changes to my dreambox channels via dreambox edit, and how to stop the channels skipping. I was hoping someone could advise me that's all.

You don't change your lamedb file - you change your .conf file to match - i.e. make sure the channel name in your .conf file is exactly the same as the name in your lamedb file.

Hi Bonesy , would your image take much tweaking to be applied to a dm800 with External HDD ? If so , would it be within the realms of a mere tool like myself .

Should be possible.
I've been concidering doing same with mounted drive etc... or even getting 2nd dm800 and use the same hdd for both dm800

depending on image it should be in /etc/enigma2/

or from a telnet session execute this command

find / -name lamedb

ok im trying this again. channels are still skipping no matter what i do so without using dreambox edit i am reflashing this image again. without touching it are bouquets etc created and ordered? if i swap the radiotimes conf file for yours gezz, will i need to make any changes? currently scanning with everything crossed!

ok im trying to follow this to the letter, iv got the files onto the hdd iv done a scan but so far not getting the channels to clear, im frightened i replace any files that are needed if i use my dreambox edit settings. can someone please tell me exactly what files are safe to send, normally i backup and send over the keys and scce directories, and the rom files are in those folders.

wow this image really hates me, cant get any channels its saying tune failed. tried the bl72 as well still same message. i think i give up at least for now

if i delete the keys and scce directories in this image will i lose anything? and replace with the fix files? if so tell me which files i can safely replace please.

you should upload your channels.
will only messup some channels epg, but thats what you need to fix.

ok i have my channels uploaded and working. reluctant to attempt the epg again because they aren't skipping but i will give it a shot this week. for some reason its not taking root and dream as login and password via telnet, it did last time though and those are the settings in dreambox edit, strange..

without telnetting its working on some channels such as bbc hd e4+1 sky 1 living etc, the main channels and all the movies, sports, news, documentary all are blank after 24hrs.

im mostly bothered about main channels.

you do not need to telnet into box...if you did, you only need to put in "root" to acess it.

As for channels not showing...have you updated your epg yet? If your not sure what your doing just leave the unit, it will auto update the rpg at 4am during the night.

In morning your box will be in stadby mode, just power on using remote, then check all your channels epg.

it has updated and still missing some channels. will have to take a closer look but is there any editing program we can use to make it easier. also can u use any generic usb wifi adapter to make it wireless or is there a particular one to buy, just thought id ask since u seem to be the knowing guru of dm800

Some channels will appear not to be updating epg as my channels lists are different from yours as Im in different area. You could state your area and if someone else ahas already updated their channels file, they can just send it to you and save you the time.

I beleive there is usb adapters availible which make the Dreambox wireless, but dont know name etc,..
