I'm not too keen on the Q5. It's cheap, and the picture quality is quite good, but it has a weak tuner, and sometimes takes ages to switch between certain channels. You get a message signal lost, and it can take minutes for the channel to come on.

I would rather have paid a lot more for a legit receiver, form a good company like VU. I already have a Dreambox 800 HD se, for satellite, so I can't put another Dreambox beside it, as the remote will work both boxes.

Its definitely the Openvix Apollo image which turns out the lights ive gone back to Openpli 4 to get Dreamplex working better.
Lights on display are working fine on Openpli.
Think the colour and look of the box will put a few off. Handset looks pretty decent but the back usb and Ethernet are far to close together and can see that being a problem long term.

one of the reasons why full support differs from patched support and maybe not suitable for these boxes, maybe vix is a no goer on these and wait to hear if others have vix issues.?

I have noticed with the I-Box2 and I-Box3 from this company that some boxes have front display working and others don't with the same image and bootloader. On those, they changed the spec as they went along. Maybe the same with these explaining why some are OK with patched ViX and others are not.

On the box I flashed with Vix there is nothing but a faint green light on display.
With Openpli 4 it shows the time so definitely a bug with image and box.

I tried two of the later patched Open Vix Apollo images.

Or you can go to some uk sat sites and get their cheapest combo enigma2 box for ?137..... That's about 70% more cost, and for what? I'm so glad air digital are shaking up the market place. Had these running sweet for a while now with tsmedia, picons, epg all saved to flash and it's streaming films great!
No cheap parts proper samsung tuners. Forget those crappy Q5's (?60) it's all about H1 with autobouqetsmaker, combo tuner for ?20 more and so many more features
Is it only me who thinks this is a bad idea.
it was those cheap f3 sat boxes flooding the market that forced sly to act in the first place. VM are now bound to do the same, spoiling it for everyone else.

you say VIX intend to support these boxes.
                        i'll ask RD.

                          Sossy

There are a few boxes on the market that are cheaper than the zgemma. They are not all E2 but cant see why this would suddenly send VM into a panic. Sure they are working to put a stop to it anyway.

                          Andy

Its defo the vix image that will fail to display channels. As lincsat says its the same on most if not all cloud boxes so may be the same issue given its modfied rather than supported officially. The image still works fine though and will function as intended but the display is just a green dot as you describe. Flash another image on it and it will be fine.

genuine vix do not support these boxes,so if you put a genuine image on box you know what that does!

Andy i agree with digi a usb extension cable for a couple of quid much better and easier to use, its not just your box that's like that a vu solo se is the same its fiddly but the usb extension lead makes it much easier

does the zgemma h1 work fine with openatv latest image running both cable and sat side by side. as openatv support the box.

                                thanks
