Hi guys,
I have been looking for a cable tuner box. Stumbled upon this. I just purchased a omnibox eco plus with twin hybrid tuners. I had to send that back as there was some issues with tuner. I am debating as I have a genuine solo 2 at the moment, whether to get a a usb tuner or try this one? I heard that there are issues with usb tuners?! Anyone has experience with usb tuners? It's a shame that zgemma doesn't have twin cable tuners as that's what I was looking for mainly to watch while recording a different channel.
Cheers.

I have a genuine vu solo 2 with a cable usb tuner with the tuner plugged in when changing
channels the box locks up there is meant to be a driver update soon to fix this so I bought a Zgemma instead so far
been really reliable would recommend this box but they only do this box either twin s2 or one s2 and one c tuner
there is also another usb tuner called the subdtek there around ?80 and meant to be quite good but at that price I bought the Zgemma instead depends and what set up you want I suppose and how much your budget isComment

Thanks Scott. I'm gonna give zgemma a whirl.! If it works fine, I would fleabay my solo 2. Ideally I would like to have a twin dvb c tuners, but there's hardly any on market. Yeah, rather than pay ?80 for just tuner I would get another receiver!I have a genuine vu solo 2 with a cable usb tuner with the tuner plugged in when changing

It is original.! I use it to watch TV. If I have another one doing just the same (or better, in terms having the ability to watch cable as well), I can't see the sense of keeping it, regardless how good or how expensive it is! It will just gather dust.! I know solo 2 is a good machine, but they crippled it by adding fixed tuners and no ability to change tuners.

From a personal point of view i would sell the Solo2 hopefully you may get in the region of ?180-?200 if lucky then instead of getting a Zgemma and pocket the other ?100 put in another ?80 -?100 and get a Gigablue Quad Plus with 2 x DVB-S2 tuners and 2 x DVB-C/T tuner.
Same Chipset as the Solo2 so can do anything that can do but not crippled with 2 fixed tuners.

Gigablue quad is good, but I'm not really comfortable spending ?300 on a receiver. You need to also consider that if you are planning to watch both sat and cable, the subscription fees for each service. Both with same channels.! I don't get the point. I will only be paying for service, either sat or cable. After all, how much are you going to watch?! I hope we all have a day job!

I also liked the Solo2 when i had it ashame they never gave it P&P tuners i would probably still have it, at the end of the day the Giga and Solo2 are identical its just a name under the 'Hood' they both perform identical
I will just make this point you are in effect downgrading going from the solo2 to the Zgemma is the same as going from a Merc AMG to a Ford Ka, you will notice speed difference and when the Zgemma is fully laden with all the plugins and little extras you use the slowdown is immense even updating the EPG seems like an age compared to the Solo2.Gigablue quad is good, but I'm not really comfortable spending ?300 on a receiver. Im In the same boat, not sure whether to sell my solo 2 and upgrade. Or keep it and use in conjunction with a usb c tuner. Not hearing great things about the usb tuners and vix.
Zgemma , as digicon said , is too much of a drop down. Maybe cheap and cheerfull but you will definitely feel/ see the difference in receiversComment
,having fun .
