You could try that as a bargaining tool but be warned the deal from sky does not include line rental and broadband comes with 2gig usage.

I can confirm 100% that one of my neighbors this year after being with virgin for years dumped them and got sky tv instead because they offered a better deal than virgin.
On the day that the Sky engineer was here virgin called him up and offered to give him what sky was giving him but also a ?5 month saving.
It was dead funny the guy was just going to put his ladder up and my neighbor told him to leave.

Oh didnt realise it was a Sky deal.

Already done that, they quashed (and rightly so) the Sky
broadband which is garbage.

On the last part of your post, I just don't see Vermin doing that these days. I'm a haggler and I'm really struggling. I've not given up yet though..

I reckon VM must keep records of who rings up and tries to get a good deal.
It was only 4 months ago I rang up to change my package right down to the basic package.

I had two boxes, one was a V+ box, XLTV on both, 20meg BB, and talk evenings and weekends.
Think I was paying about ?65 a month.

I phoned up and made it clear that due to job loss and I could not afford more than ?45 a month with virgin.
After about 20 minutes and I have to say the guy was very helpful and felt sorry for me for losing my job ( which was true at the time ) I ended up with 50mb BB, basic tv and phone evenings and weekends for ?48 a month.

The problem you have now is that they know you keep ringing them up for better deal so they wont budge.
The only thing you could do is bite the bullet and go through with the cancellation.
How far from the BT exchange are you ?

I told them i had a mate at sky and was getting unlimited broadband, talk anytime, all the sports, movies, hd, free hd box and free install as an introductory offer all for half price for a year, which worked out about ?40 and they can't check
it on the website .

I did try to get full sports but no way, which annoyed me but they will only give so much away .

Phoned again this time asking what the process of disconnection was. Didn't really get the answer I was looking as the woman I spoke to was really nice and did everything in her power to dissuade me off joining Sky, but the prices remained the same. I told her I'd phone back and think about it a little longer.

Next time I phone I'll just go straight for the disconnection route.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get disconnected, is it instantaneous or do they give you a 30 days or something?

I'll miss the 50 Mb BB and hate having to pay over ?70 a month on home entertainment but needs must.

They simply won't budge on prices nowadays.

Box arrived via courier. Self installed, phoned up and activated, I'm pretty happy with the HD V+ box. I bit more responsive than the standard box.

Apart from the money and having to live with 20Mb after a long time with 50Mb I'm fairly happy.

I have tried an tried with both an can't get any lower than this!
Sky full hd 20 meg uncapped bb (which is only 10 in my area) free anytime calls free hub an free box ?80 a month
virgin want ?92.50 a month for triple xl deal with hd telly an ?100 for the hd box! but the xl broadband would be 20 meg and uncapped!

I miss my ex 7000!
