Labour WILL get in next time, but you must realise politics are like an expensive date, they will promise you a blow job then eat your dinner and drink your booze, then develop a headache...Comment

That's part of the problem Lainie, the wages are not a proper "living wage" and those with money are preaching the "fact" that those on Benefits are living off what you pay in taxes, so that they don't get blamed for not paying you enough !!
It is a win, win situation for the greedy employers (I say that because not all employers are greedy, but unfortunately most are) and it is a lose, lose situation for the ordinary worker.Comment

init ffs, minimium wage worse thing thats ever happened, make employers pay a decent living wage and a lot of problems would be solved, but does the gov want us all to have money ? answer is no, they want us to be poor, poor means you cant fight back very easy. That's part of the problem Lainie, the wages are not a proper "living wage" and those with money are preaching the "fact" that those on Benefits are living off what you pay in taxes, so that they don't get blamed for not paying you enough !!

The only way we'll get a living wage is if those not contributing to it are discouraged from getting in that position in the first place. I can remember growing up and sleeping three to a bedroom, getting hand me down clothes and going outside to an unheated toilet. Loads of neighbours took in lodgers to cover the costs and wages were low. Low wages meant we could sell goods cheaper as we never had as much overheads.
Today everyone wants their own room or even one spare. They won't share as allegedly everyone else is a potential rapist or criminal. You demand designer clothes and if out of work enough money to feed, clothe and have a social life. Everyone wants a great wage, pension and holidays.
To get this you give the workers a pay rise so they can pay more taxes to give those out of work a good standard of living. To get the money to give the pay rise you up the price of your goods and guess what. Everyone buys the goods from overseas as they don't have the same benefits so can pay lower wages and charge less for goods. The country loses revenue so has to borrow money to bribe the voters by continuing the same standard of living and eventually, as Labour did you've borrowed that much you're paying back more in interest than you make and the country goes up shi@ creek.
Hard though it is the only way to get a living wage is to make it not worth while being on benefits. If they stopped child benefit after the first kid and made those that haven't contributed anything share accomodation they'd soon think twice about popping kids out or staying in bed all day. Some benefits and priority treatment should be given to those that have contributed. If you've not contributed you go to the back of the housing queue etc. Obviously allowances should be made for carers and the disabled etc.
Imagine how much money the Government would have if everyone played ball.Comment

We received many information on this ATOS Centres, but Ms. Rolnik is rapporteur for the right to adequate housing and her report has to stay on this theme.
However, I strongly advise you to write to the Special Rapporteur on the right to health (Mr. Anand Grover - [email protected]) Maybe they can help with this!
Best regards,
Mar?lia
UN Special Rapporteur Support Team.... Raquel Rolnik sent me this message............... Thank you very much for your kind message regarding the UK mission. The enormous media coverage this mission has had has been important to raise awareness on the right to adequate housing in the UK and worldwide.
As UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, it is my job to examine the housing situation around the world and defend the housing rights of all individuals.
My two-week official visit to consider the housing situation in the UK from 29 August to 11 September ended in controversy in respect of one point I addressed in my end-of-visit statement: the spare-room subsidy.
It would be unfortunate if ill-informed remarks and even personal attacks - by some British politicians and the tabloid press - diverted attention from the need to address the real situation of individuals who believe their rights have been violated or ignored. This would be particularly unfortunate as the UK has a strong commitment to human rights and a long tradition of providing affordable social housing to those in need.
I am one of 72 independent experts appointed by United Nations Human Rights Council ***8211; the peak UN body responsible for human rights ***8211; on the basis of our expertise and independence. We carry out our functions in an independent and objective manner in accordance with a Code of Conduct adopted by the Council. We are volunteers, and receive no remuneration from the UN or States. We follow the same rules and procedures when we visit any country to consider human rights enjoyment. Mandate holders come from many countries, and backgrounds: it is their expertise that is relevant.
No countries in the world, developed or developing, are without human rights challenges. What should matter is that policymakers should address housing issues in the UK in a way that complies with the international obligations the State has agreed to. The ultimate aim is to ensure the human rights of all people living in the country. I continue to engage with the Government, and look to dialogue with all stakeholders as I prepare my report which will be considered by the Human Rights Council in March next year.
Finally, please, find below links to some interesting articles and interviews on the Mission and the main points raised regarded the right to adequate housing in the country. Please feel free to disseminate them!

It is a strange thing that people who receive this benefit, and the housing benefit is costing Britain around 20 Billion a year; call it a tax. We have at the moment where we pay people more benefit to live in a bigger house then is required, while due to Labour, numerous other people live in over crowed houses or sheds.
Miliband keeps on about spending more money, while at the moment Britain is borrowing 2 Billion pounds a week. When Labour lost the last election they were borrowing 3 Billion pounds a week. Their sums when they were in power did not add up, and Miliband promises don't add up. In truth Britain is virtually bankrupt, and it would be official if the lenders stop lending, or they increased the interest rate, because we then could not afford the payments on the1.2 Trillion Britain now owes, and increasing weekly.Comment
