Remove crack from WII

The wii has since been boxed up for 2 years until I decided to set it back up. However I want to remove this crack thingy as I want to be able to update etc.

Well unless we know what crack he used then its going to be difficult to say how to remove it.

Do you have the Homebrew channel on the Wii menu?

If it is Homebrew there is an option to uninstall Homebrew and Bootmii but you would have to softmod it again to see this. I don't know if uninstalling both is successful.

What do you want to update your Wii to 4.3?

If you want to update it to 4.3 that would be fine as that will remove the softmod then you would have to softmod it again using LetterBomb then you would have to setup your USB Loaders again.

Those are my thoughts if someone else knows any better then we will have to wait and see.

Yes I have the homebrew channel.

I just want my wii back to normal so I can play paid for games as I do not download games so not sure if I would need to softmod it.

I have just bought just dance 3 and it won't play which I am assuming because it needs the update.

What do you think?

You missed a very important question before recommending, updating....beccy can you play backup game discs on the normal disc channel(ones that have been burnt tho a blank dvd). If you can, do not update to 4.3 as darkcorp has been installed and you will brick the wii. Why won't just dance 3 play and is it original......is it because you don't want to accept the update, if so then there is a thread on here for a safe update to 4.2 which will not brick the wii or lose the softmod. First thing to try is to see if priiloader has been installed to do this turn the wii off until the red light is on then press and hold the reset button and press the power button to switch the wii on still holding reset. If it starts as normal priiloader has not been installed. Try these first then get back to us with the answers

Yes I can play backup games discs.

No idea why just dance won't work. It's not even suggesting update. It loads into disc channel, I press A then screen goes black.

I did the reset and start thingy and it came up with a black screen saying in top middle "system menu homebrew Channel installed file"
Bottom left "IOS V60, system menu v418"
Bottom right "preloader v0.29"

I know you can play backup game discs but can you play them from the disc channel in top left. If so you have darkcorp installed which had altered almost all system files and will be the reason why just dance won't play, the game is pretty new and the version of darkcorp will be pretty old. It is very important we know if darkcorp is installed.

ok then do not update via nintendo or you will brick the wii...best option you have is to do a complete softmod...It is pretty easy and we will be about to answer any questions...You will need to download and install this onto your pc Digital Kaos - Downloads - modmii 4.3.4 you run this on the pc and allow it to update to the latest version you will then need to follow the first instruction...After you have done that and have the main menu select "w" for full softmod wizard...then follow the instructions....You will need and sd card which you have already in the wii, take that out and format it to fat or fat32

You are going to get a few options in this program and the only one i would do different from what the program recommends is instead of selecting the recommended system version of 4.1 choose 4.3 as this is the latest system menu so discs should not update yo further

If you don't want to do a softmod I can walk you through removing darkcorp. Just dance will then work and will perform a system update which will remove the softmod but I can't guarantee it won't brick the wii (it is unlikely after darkcorp has been removed but may still happen)

Unfortunately I don't have an SD card reader on my PC as my ex did it all on his. I am however seeing if I can loan one from someone.

If I go with the second option of uninstalling what is the likelihood I it bricking.

The second options still requires files to be written to the sd card from the pc...It is the same risk as updating any softmodded wii with an official update. Low but still very possible. Every system change is done via the sd card so until you can sort out a reader you are kind of stuck with what you have. In the meantime I would suggest you have a bit of a play with modmii and see what it is suggesting you do. You can then have most of your questions answered before you even start to redo the softmod (which is my recommendation of the two options I have given you) purely because it is safer for a newbie...Darkcorp is a pig to get rid of properly

yes that's correct

Edit remember you do not have to install bannerbomb again as you already have hbc (homebrew channel) you want to start the process from stage 2 you will need a 2gb sd card make a nand backup..It is important......You can then transfer the nandbackup to the pc and use the sd card for the rest of the softmod, you do not have to remove the health screen and move the disc channel in prii loader system hacks stage 5 but disc and online updates do need to initialised
