    Hi all,

I have a hard modded Wii (cyclowiz) that now doesn't play latest games. I'm going to try the excellent softmod tutorial on page one of this thread.

I have just checked and my firmware on the Wii is 4.1E, should I still be following the page 1 instructions as it specifies 4.2E?

    Thanks for any help,

    M.

Hi m8, upgrade to 4.2E via the Wii, then use the tutorial, it will not work with 4.1E.

        Hi Dell_XPS

        Thanks for the information...

Just waiting for the kids to go to bed, and I'll give it a go

Are all the downloads required on page 1 of the thread, or should I search through for updated software?

        M.

            Thanks again,

One last thing if you don't mind? Will this enable me to use a USB hard drive to play my 'original' backups?

            Cheers.

What firmware are you on ?
If it's 4.2E follow the guide and it will be ok.

                              Hi guys

just bought a black wii for a present

Was planning on using this guide..... but look likes it doesnt give oppurtunity to play DVD backups..........instead games have to come off a usb hard drive instead

Does anybody know if the black wiis are softmoddable to play DVD backups or is it just a waste of time and USB hard drive is the only option???
                              Thanks

Remember if you have a usb stick, 8GB or more would work also just means only having 1 or 2 games on a stick at a time depending on how big the stick was m8.
Give it a try if you can, that way we know for sure that the new drives def dont play back DVDR's.
                                Cheers.
